Happy Spring! This weather is so weird when it's hotter in Chicago and Fargo than it is in Las Vegas or LA! Crazy! This has got to mean we will suffer a horrific summer with a drought. Thanks, Global Warming!….Danny Carey of tool was interviewed by a rep from Vic Firth (see www.VicFirth.com) at the band's stop in Boston earlier this year. It could also be part of the 48 Hours Festival this year in Vegas. (Which I hear is moving to a new month, which means it should be even hotter than last year! Unless there's a pool or ocean or lake nearby, I am not a hot weather person.) Anyhow, I am looking forward to this possible tour….Speaking of Linkin Park, Mike Shinoda has written music for the new film “The Raid: Redemption.” It opens nationwide Fri, Apr 13th….Marilyn Manson will perform “The Beautiful People” with Rammstein at the 2012 Echo Awards in Germany on Thursday night. Chris Rock will handle the duties for Red Hot Chili Peppers. (Strange choice, but at least he will be funny!) And The Beastie Boys chose Public Enemy frontman Chuck D. (Perfect choice!) But have Guns N' Roses announced anything, NOOOOO. Have they announced ANYTHING??? Why is Axl so lame? Come on, dude! Say you'll have the first performance with the original members in decades and invite Keith Richards to induct the band! (Lars Ulrich's idea on Keith!) Call him! Take something serious for a change! The whole world isn't about YOU!…..Speaking of Lars, the Metallica drummer has shown up in a new trailer for the upcoming HBO film Hemingway And Gellhorn. After appearing as himself in the 2004 documentary Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster and the 2010 comedy Get Him To The Greek, Ulrich plays an actual character in this film, which is a fictionalized account of the relationship between author Ernest Hemingway and war correspondent Martha Gellhorn. The couple are played by Clive Owen and Nicole Kidman, while Ulrich portrays Dutch documentarian Joris Ivens. The original HBO Films production is scheduled to premiere on May 28th.
