Good morning! Godsmack will be releasing a new song next week from their forthcoming live album. I believe frontman Sully Erna told me they’ve recorded 5 cover songs from some major American bands, and one of those (I can’t tell you which one or Sully will get mad at me) is gonna be the single. (Hint: Ozzy covered it on his cover cd a few years back.) Look for it soon….Speaking of covers, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age/Them Crooked Vultures) and Florence and the Machine version of Johnny & June Carter Cash’s “Jackson.” The unlikely match-up occurred during Flo’s MTV Unplugged, which airs on Apr 8th. Now I dunno if they are singing about Jackson, Tennessee, Mississippi or Michigan, but I like it A LOT! Find it online….10 Years have left Universal/Republic and are releasing their very first album independently on their own Palehorse Records. “Minus the Machine” will be released July 17th and a tour is planned for late June with Kyng & my buds Fair to Midland. See Road Rage for the rundown….Pulse of Radio has reported all is not well in Limp Bizkit land. DJ Lethal revealed on Twitter this past weekend that he and drummer John Otto of the rap-rock act have become estranged from frontman Fred Durst and expect to soon be fired from the group. Lethal wrote, “From what I understand, Fred doesn’t approve of our lifestyle which includes partying and fun . . . I’ve tried to reach out and make things better. But Fred seems to have made up his mind.” Guitarist Wes Borland later commented on the situation, saying, “We are seriously trying our best to help John and Lethal, but this whole thing was something that should have stayed internal.” Borland added, “Our intentions have never been to try and divide our fans. Our only intention has been to move ahead with the parts of the band that can function together.” Limp Bizkit recently signed a new record deal with Lil Wayne‘s hip-hop label Cash Money Records…Serj Tankian (yes, that Serj from System of a Down) has his 3rd solo record coming out later this summer called “Harakiri,” the Japanese word for ritual suicide. He’s basing the title on the vast number of fish and birds that have died around the globe. Serj commented in a press release, “Do they know something about the coming times or the sustainability of the environment? That is the day I started writing this record.” The first track off the album is set for the week of Apr 23rd. Musically, it’s supposed to be harder and more System-like than his previous two outings. I like Serj and hope to speak with him in the coming weeks. I am also hearing rumors about a possible System of a Down summer tour! More on that as we get!…Meanwhile, you may have noticed the website has a new appearance.
