Step on a crack, break yer mutha’s back. Don’t walk under ladders! Break a mirror, 7 years bad luck. Black cat crosses your track, you’re in trouble! Don’t ya love these old Friday the 13th sayings? HA! I say, Thank God It’s Friday!…Thanks to our friends at Loudwire for a great run-down of the Revolver’s Golden Gods Awards. Check it out here, including all the winners and performances. Wish I was there! Next year, maybe…..Butch Vig is in the studio at Dave Grohl‘s house with Dave, Krist Novoselic and another “special guest” as they record music for Dave’s documentary on the now shuttered, legendary Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, CA where Nirvana recorded “Nevermind,” and a bazillion other huge albums from the 70’s, 80’s & 90’s. The soundtrack for this so far has included Dave recording with Corey Taylor and Rick Springfield! (really?!) And I avoided talking about this because even though this column is called Dirt, I don’t like to participate in these kinds of things, but when I heard Today show’s Natalie Morales talking about it “trending online” I guess I will mention the Twitter feud started by Courtney Love against Dave, which started when she was pissed Krist and Dave allowed some Nirvana music to be used in a film saying Kurt would never have wanted Nirvana’s music to be “Disneyfied.” Then she attacked Dave by saying he did something untoward to her and Kurt’s daughter Frances Bean! Dave released a statement via his publicist stating that Courtney’s comments were “upsetting, outrageous and absolutely untrue.” Then Frances posted “While I’m generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn. I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way. I’m in a monogamous relationship and very happy.” Can’t we all just get along? And Courtney, “Ding Dong, rehab is calling!”….Chester Bennington told Spin.com the band’s new Linkin Park single, “Burn It Down,” which comes out on Monday, is “a seared but still high-sheen slab of cross-pollinated pop driven by four-on-the-floor pump and the pulse of guitars and synths irreparably fused together.” Interesting! Other titles from the yet to be titled album produced once again by Rick Rubin and the band are: “Lost in the Echo,” “In My Remains,” “Castle of Glass” and “I’ll Be Gone.”….Godsmack, Staind and Halestorm kick off their Mass Chaos Tour tonight in Augusta, GA home of the Masters and 95Rock!
