Today is super nutty in the office! Visits by Hellyeah and Dead Letter Circus, and a call from Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park. How’s that for a Monday? Oh, and a dentist’s appointment before that! So I gotta make it short and sweet!….Hit YouTube to see the 20 minute Guns N’ Roses induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. (Note to Matt Sorum: your acceptance speech was almost as long as your time with the band for crying out loud!) I was so proud of the guys for bringing Myles Kennedy in to sing with Slash, Duff McKagan, Sorum and Stephen Adler. They did “Mr Brownstone,” “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” “Paradise City” and “Use Your Illusion.” Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day (who inducted the band) was also on stage adding vocals. I was sad when I heard Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, who was diagnosed with and been battling cancer of the salivary gland back since 2009, was unable to attend, and others performed in his place, including Kid Rock, Travie McCoy of Gym Class Heroes and Black Thought of the Roots. And Rod Stewart, who was down with the flu, was also unable to attend to be with his original band mates, The Small Faces and Faces, for their induction. Red Hot Chili Peppers were inducted by Chris Rock. I am definitely looking forward to this airing on HBO on Saturday night, May 5th….Speaking of bands on TV, tonight on the Travel Channel, The Black Keys will appear with Anthony Bourdain on “No Reservations.” The guys take Anthony to their favorite BBQ place….According to RockAccess, the new Linkin Park album will be called “Living Things.” It comes out on Jun 26th, and the song “Burn It Down” will be delivered to your local radio station this morning at 9AM ET. Will definitely be speaking all about it with Shinoda. BTW, if you have any questions you’d like me to ask any of our guests this week, send ’em along to me via the INTERACT email link on the home page. If they’re for today’s guests, do it now….I thought this was interesting. Eric Erlandson, Patty Schemel and Melissa Auf Der Maur performed as Trinity Jam in Brooklyn, NY on Friday night. They were the original guitarist, drummer and bassist for Hole. Courtney Love surprised the band by showing up and they performed together for the first time in 15 years doing Hole’s “Miss World” and a cover of The Wipers “Over the Edge.” Erlandson, once paramour of Drew Barrymore, has a book out called “Letters to Kurt” where he alleges Kurt Cobain was working on a solo album at the time of his death. Sad. We can only wonder what it would’ve been like. My question is, is there any evidence of that and why haven’t any tapes surfaced in this TMZ, internet-readily-available-world we live in! Meanwhile, Rolling Stone reports Courtney apologized to her daughter Frances Bean for her outburst online about Dave Grohl, alleging the ex-Nirvana drummer tried to seduce the 19-year-old. Early Saturday morning (April 14th), Love posted at Twitter, “Bean, sorry I believed the gossip. Mommy loves you.” Love said last week on Twitter that Grohl tried to sleep with Frances because of his “sexual obsession” with her father, Kurt Cobain. Grohl called Love’s remarks “offensive,” while Frances stated her mother should be banned from Twitter. Perhaps Love should apologize to Grohl too? ….Rob Zombie has directed yet another commercial! This time for Amdro Ant Bait. Search for it on YouTube while you’re there. It stars Clint Howard, director Ron Howard‘s brother and co-star of Rob’s last film, Halloween…See Road Rage for new tours from Buckcherry with Redlight King and James Durbin, Hellyeah with Clutch, and for Adelitas Way!..And our hearts go out to the folks in Woodward, OK and all the families who suffered the horrible tornadoes this weekend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all!
