Twenty-four hours til we head to Columbus, OH for Rock on the Range! Hard to believe it’s here already! We have over 30 interviews to do over the weekend and you will hear them ALL in the coming weeks! We’ll even get with former Pantera singer Phil Anselmo and Incubus, who we haven’t spoken with since 2006! Looking forward to a killer event!….I got HUGE news yesterday that I can not reveal completely yet, but there will be a two-city festival in two major mid-west cities hosted and headlined by a major hard rock band that is near and dear to our hearts. All I can tell ya is SAVE YOUR MONEY! The shows are in August…David Draiman (Disturbed) and Geno Lenardo (ex-Filter) have entered the studio in Chicago to begin recording their new project, a nod to the old school industrial sound of nine inch nails/Ministry. I hear the music should be ready by June to take to David’s label. More on that as we get closer to firm news…..I feel so bad for Bill Ward, I can’t believe he’s been totally taken out of the picture for the upcoming Black Sabbath reunion. Just bloody awful! Some lawyer or business agent somewhere should be ashamed of not only what they are denying the man, but the fans all over the world. Just not right in my book!….Oh man, last night I saw a new all-female band called Cherri Bomb open for Steel Panther. First off, Cherri Bomb’s drummer is a monster! She’s only 15! Samantha Maloney, former Hole drummer (who was the first female drummer ever to fill in for Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee, manages the band and she even makes an appearance on stage (cloaked in black with a lamb mask so we had no idea it was her!) to perform a song with them. I can see what an influence she is on the drummer of Cherri Bomb for sure. They put on a good show and they are all under 16! Then Steel (freakin’) Panther came out and that is the most hilarious, raunchy and “metal” show I have ever seen! They really camp it up with the spandex, hair tossing and sexual inuendoes I had ever seen on stage! Ya gotta see them if they come to your town (no pun intended.)…Helmet and The Toadies are sharing a tour starting in mid July. See Road Rage….tool, Dave Matthews Band and Puscifer will lead the lineup for the River’s Edge Music Festival which will take place in St Paul, MN June 23 and 24 (Same days as the Orion Music and More Festival in Atlantic City.) Other acts include: Sublime With Rome, Scizzor Sisters, The Flaming Lips and Coheed and Cambria…..Slash is celebrating the release of his new solo album, Apocalyptic Love with a live webcast. The album is set for release on May 22 and that night Slash and his bandmates will broadcast their sold-out concert from Irving Plaza in New York City….Myspace will broadcast Hangout Music Fest performances from: Jack White, String Cheese Incident, Paul Oakenfold and more. The Festival will air live from the Gulf Shores of Alabama on May 18 to the 20. Myspace will broadcast select performances live and on-demand. Additional performance footage will be shared on different Myspace pages….Happy 47th today to Trent Reznor of nine inch nails and Happy 39th to Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal and Them Crooked Vultures. Will try to connect on our Facebook over the weekend. See ya Tuesday!
