Hello friends! Hope you all had a wonderful long holiday weekend! Mother Nature actually surprised us with fine weather for a change, altho you would’ve thought it was August and not May! ….Here’s an update on tool from Pulse of Radio: Drummer Danny Carey had some good and bad news for fans of the band when Metal Insider cornered him at a School Of Rock event last week in West Los Angeles. Carey was at there to jam with some of the organization’s students, playing a selection of his own band’s songs as well as some Led Zeppelin covers. When asked about tool’s current status, he said the band had not really started recording yet, but “have the framework of at least five good songs.” Carey added the quartet hopes to get the album completed by the end of the year, although he previously stated he expected the group to be recording by June or July. It’s been six years since tool last released an album, 2006’s 10,000 Days. Meanwhile, because we invited Maynard to be a part of a radio convention in September in Las Vegas so he can help tp promote his wine, he said he will be harvesting his next crop of grapes and therefore unable to attend. So we know there will be no lyric writing this fall from him anyhow. Find Maynard on tour with Puscifer in the meantime…..I am totally remiss in reminding us all Thursday May 24th was the second anniversary of the passing of Slipknot bassist Paul Gray. Several members went to visit Paul’s garvesite, including Corey Taylor to commemorate the second anniversary of their bandmate’s death. Taylor told Revolver, “We just hung out and told some good stories. It felt good to do that. It was the first time we’ve been able to hang out and talk about him without crumbling. It was good. We laughed about the old memories. It meant something. It definitely meant something.“Gray passed away in May 2010 from an accidental overdose of drugs, leaving behind his wife Brenna and daughter October, who was born the following August. Slipknot percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan told Lou Brutus not long ago he thinks about Paul every day….Linkin Park debuted the music video late last week for “Burn It Down,” the first single from the band’s upcoming new album, Living Things. The clip was directed by Linkin Park DJ Joe Hahn, who has been behind the camera for most of the band’s videos during the last decade. In addition to unleashing the “Burn It Down” clip, Linkin Park has also posted another new song from the record, called “Lies, Greed, Misery,” online via the BBC. Living Things is due out on June 26th. See the band’s website for more!…Congrats to our affiliate in Rockford, IL WXRX Rock 104.9‘s big Rock Monkey Ruckus over the weekend.
