Happy Flag Day! Wave it proudly!….I just emailed Lzzy Hale to tell her how AWESOME her performance of AC/DC‘s “You Shook Me All Night Long” was at the Download Festival with Corey Taylor! She nailed it! Man, I wish I went to Download! I say that every year! Maybe next time….Lars Ulrich of Metallica posted a 6:47 video blog on what his plans are for the Orion Music + More festival next weekend down in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He’s got the “Hit the Lights” Theater Tent where he will show several films and conduct discussion groups. The films he plans to show are the British documentary Mission to Lars (real life story of a handicapped UK fan who was on a mission to meet Lars along one of Metallica’s US tours), Blue Valentine (Michelle Williams, Ryan Gossling) with director Derek Cianfrance who will be on hand, his father Torben Ulrich‘s documentary (I guess on Lars) called Before the Wall: Body & Being in which Lars did the score for and the upcoming HBO film Lars has a small role in called Hemingway & Gellhorn (Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen.) Pretty cool stuff. Lots of discussion about the films will follow each screening. Good for Lars. Guess the idea I gave him about showing modern art didn’t go over. Hit Metallica.com to see the video yourself….The 5th Annual Sunset strip Music Festival is set for Aug 16-18 and this year they are honoring the Doors. (Last I heard, Jim Morrison was dead, and Brett Scallions, Fuel frontman, was touring with the surviving members, so I wonder if he will be with them if they perform??? Anyone know?) The Offspring, Marilyn Manson, Dead Sara, Bad Religion and Black Label Society are among some of the newly announced performers this year.
