Pay day! And Bieber Fever infects midtown Manhattan. There must be 10,000 screaming girls in Rockefeller Plaza. What is that??? Will any of these kids grow up to be metal heads? I was like those kids in the 60’s over the Beatles, and even though I never got to see them live, I would scream every time they were on tv. Just part of realizing how excited music can make ya I guess…..Lou Brutus was on the hotLine last night with Jim Root of Slipknot & Stone Sour. Guess they had some technical difficulties. Too much swearing in there, fellas! WTF! Anyhow, I was on the hotLine with Jacoby Shaddix before the chat and he told me their seventh full-length studio album will arrive on Oct 2nd. A title, first single and track listing have yet to be confirmed. He did make it very clear what inspired the songs this time around: “Halfway through the album, me and my wife of like 14 years separated, and that was a catalyst for a slew of crazy songs. I mean, I went through the process of that. Couple of months later, you know, me and the old lady are working it out. It’s been a really big emotional rollercoaster for me, you know, and it’s, you know, me at my most vulnerable I think I’ve ever been when it comes to music.” He seems a little down, but things are seem to be looking up as he got sober again. So, they are still finishing up the record and are getting ready to start rehearsing. Some of the tunes they mentioned in the chat are”Before I Die,” “Not That Beautiful” which features a female vocalist, “Still Swinging” (produced by John Feldman) and “Leader of the Broken Hearts.” In my interview, we also talked about “Even If I Could,” from the Avengers Assemble soundtrack, which he said is indicative of the sound of the new material, which is being produced by James Michael of Sixx AM. Looking forward to seeing ’em on the Rockstar Uproar….Green Day has issued a brief 30-second trailer for its upcoming album, Uno!, which arrives on Sep 25th. The disc is the first in a trilogy of new CDs, with Dos! set for release on Nov 13th and Tre! bringing it all to a close on Jan 15th, 2013. Along with an excerpt of music and the flash of several song titles, the new teaser also provides a quick glimpse of the record’s cover art….Loudwire reports two never-before-released songs from late Alice In Chains frontman Layne Staley appear on the soundtrack of a new film called Grassroot. The film is based on the true story of two Seattle music journalists who tried to shake up the local political scene despite having no experience in it. It is not clear whether the two songs were recorded before or during Staley’s time with Alice In Chains, or during the long, six-year period in which he virtually disappeared from public view until his death in 2002 from an overdose of drugs. Should be interesting to check out….Beastie Boys collaborator and producer Mario Caldato Jr., a.k.a. Mario C., has told NME.com there is a large amount of unreleased material in the band’s vaults that will quite possibly be released at some point. Despite the death last month of Beastie Boys member Adam “MCA” Yauch, Caldato said fans will have a chance to hear more music from the trio. He explained, “There’s a handful of extra stuff from each record apart from (1989 second album) Paul’s Boutique. I actually went through it all recently and checked out a few things that weren’t used for Hello Nasty and there’s definitely two or three tracks that didn’t get utilized that could be utilized.”….Happy 36th today to Alien Ant Farm singer Dryden Mitchell. Have a great weekend! See ya Monday!
