Lots of rock bands in the rumor mill today involving sports. First, we heard Metallica might be performing in LA on Aug 19th on the WWE’s Summerslam at the Staples Center according to Blabbermouth. It would be their first live performance for the wrestling company, although “St Anger” was used as the theme song for the ’03 Summerslam and in ’08, “All Nightmare Long” was used as the theme song for the pay-per-view event, No Mercy. WWE wrestlers Triple H (he was also at the Big 4 show as I recall) and The Undertaker have also used Metallica tracks as their entrance songs. Next year for sure!…The other rumor is Van Halen will be the half-time entertainment at SuperBowl XLVII next year. Now that would be cool…..Also in the rumor mill: Pulse of Radio reports former White Stripes frontman Jack White could be the main contender to produce a new album from the Rolling Stones, if the legendary band decides to record one for its 50th anniversary. According to a Rolling Stone interview with Stones guitarist Keith Richards, it could happen. Richards, who’s been friends with White for years, said, “That’s always a possibility. The door is wide open.” White has produced other iconic artists before, notably country legend Loretta Lynn and R&B star Wanda Jackson, resulting in acclaimed releases for both… Staind are releasing a live CD Live from the Mohegan Sun on Jul 10th. The band’s performance was filmed at their Nov 25th show last year…..The Black Keys have launched copyright infringement lawsuits against Home Depot and Pizza Hut. according to the Associated Press. The duo filed federal lawsuits late last week against both corporations, claiming Home Depot did not have permission to use elements of their song “Lonely Boy” in an ad for power tools, while also alleging that Pizza Hut misused their latest single, “Gold On The Ceiling,” in a recent commercial.
