In this household, the Today show is a staple. It’s just what my parents did. I like knowing what’s going on in the world and news about culture, climate, politics, entertainment, health, etc. I like the personalities (most of the time when they don’t talk over the guests) and I always was amazed at how the women on the air have NO CLUE how to boil water! But the news of Ann Curry being forced out as co-host bugs me. Ultimately, she was miscast as a co-host. She’s hard news. So Ann, look at it this way: you don’t have to wake up before the sun rises anymore!…..Sorry to hear Sully Erna of Godsmack‘s on-going vocal problems have resulted in the band cancelling their remaining European dates. He’s on strict doctor’s orders to rest his voice. Hopefully, he will be ok for the Uproar Tour in August!….Loudwire reports Linkin Park will webcast a performance from the X-Games in Los Angeles tomorrow (June 29th) via MySpace. The band will play material from its newly released album, Living Things, beginning at 11:00 p.m. PT. This is the band’s only scheduled live performance so far until it begins the Honda Civic Tour in August. Living Things is Linkin Park’s fifth studio effort and said to be a return to the band’s musical roots after 2010’s A Thousand Suns…..Slash and his touring band, Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators, have announced the dates and venues for a fall headlining North American tour that will begin on Sep 4th in San Diego and wind down on Oct 3rd in Los Angeles. Foxy Shazam will be along for most of the shows as support. A ticket pre-sale for fans begins on Tue, July 10th, featuring chances to meet Slash and win an autographed guitar. General public sales start on Fri, July 13th. And congrats to Slash on his “You’re A Lie” being the most played rock song in the US last week! Right on, Slash!!!!…..And the new album from the Smashing Pumpkins, Oceania, debuted at Number 4 on the Billboard album chart, selling 54,000 copies in its first week of release. The last Pumpkins album to make the chart, 2007’s Zeitgeist, entered at Number 2 with sales of 145,000 copies. The band, which currently counts frontman Billy Corgan as its sole original member, first charted 21 years ago when its debut disc Gish landed at Number 195 back in Sep 1991.
