Had a great time hanging with Mark Tremonti yesterday. And who knew he was into those fantasy/sci-fi books! (He was reading this huge tome!) Asked him what else he likes to do in his spare time and he looked at me and said, “What is that?” LOL No, but really, between his solo project, Alter Bridge and Creed, he is pretty busy. He hopes to be able to tour behind his debut solo record, All I Was, Sep-Nov, and again in Feb in between recording the next Alter Bridge album and the next Creed tour. I was SUPER surprised when he told me there was a death threat against Creed years ago when they perforned here in NYC at Irving Plaza. Imagine going on stage wondering if this would be your last show!??! Crazy yo! Look for the Tremonti album in stores Jul 17th…..Pulse of Radio reports two documentaries on Green Day are expected to compliment the release of three albums between late Sep and the middle of Jan. According to Billboard.com, Filmmakers, Tim Lynch and Tim Wheeler are creating a documentary on the making of the band’s upcoming three albums, Uno!, Dos! and Tre!. The second documentary is reportedly being created from old footage from the group’s time before their album, Dookiewas released. Billie Joe Armstrong said, “It’s not going to be the sitting down, head shot of me going, ‘We started out blah blah blah.’ We wanted to get into lifestyles of rock ‘n’ roll and playing rock n roll and letting the story kind of tell itself rather than create revisionist.” They are reportedly trying to have the film ready by early next year to possibly premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Meanwhile, Green Day’s first single, “Oh Love” from Uno! will be on www.GreenDay.com at 9 am ET Monday, July 16. Uno! comes out Sep 25 and the band will appear on the bill at this year’s I Heart Radio Festival in Las Vegas later this fall…..Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has reportedly penned the theme song to Call Of Duty: Black Ops II. According to USA Today, Reznor is no stranger to soundtracks, so it’s no surprise he took this gig as seriously as he would a movie sountrack. He said, “What I learned in listening to the full story and the amount of effort that has gone into the back story and the characters and the full preparation there is a lot of reservation and angst and sense of loss and regret and anger bubbling under the surface. So it didn’t make sense to have a gung ho, patriotic feeling theme song. It has to feel weighty. There is a lot of remorse and apprehension here. So choosing to arrange it a bit more with guitars and drums and aggressively sounding, that struck a tone with them.” Call Of Duty: Black Ops II hits stores on Nov 12….Blabbermouth reports Grammy-winning iconic guitarist and Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Slash marked a career milestone yesterday, Tue, Jul 10, as he was honored with his own star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Slash‘s star is located directly in front of the Hard Rock Café on Hollywood Blvd (6801 Hollywood Blvd, #105). Slash‘s friends — celebrated film producer Robert Evans, actor Charlie Sheen and former KLOS host Jim Ladd — were guest speakers at the fan-packed ceremony. Afterwards, Slash and bandmate Myles Kennedy treated fans to a private acoustic performance and exclusive question-and-answer session at the Hard Rock. Charlie Sheen, a neighbor and personal friend of Slash‘s, spoke at Slash‘s induction ceremony. Sheen had some terrific one-liners, too! “It’s quite fitting that Slash is getting a star on the very street Axl Rose will one day be sleeping on.” He added, “This star is going to be stepped on more than the coke we did in the ’80’s.” Classic!…..Blabbermouth also reports Papa Roach have tapped David Brodsky of Brooklyn, New York’s MyGoodEye Music Visuals (HELLYEAH, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, GOATWHORE, MUNICIPAL WASTE, SUFFOCATION) to helm the video for an as-yet-undisclosed song off the band’s upcoming studio album, The Connection. The first single from The Connection will be “Still Swinging”. Due in October via Eleven Seven Music, The Connection was recorded at the band’s hometown studio, The Red House in Sacramento, California and was produced by rock veteran James Michael (Sixx AM, Halestorm) and John Feldmann (The Used, Escape the Fate). Vocalist Jacoby Shaddix said “We wanted to make a dynamic and explosive record that captures the raw emotions of life. We also wanted to incorporate the biological sounds of rock with a digital edge to have a fresh sound. This is our own version of what we think the radio should sound like. This is the soundtrack to my life and once again I went through some dark shit and came through thanks to the music.” “Still Swingin” was played during last night’s Major League Baseball All Stars Home Run Derby on ESPN. The track will be featured by ESPN/MLB in select games/events for the next few weeks. .
