Is it me, or are there all these weird things going on? I mean, Jim Root nearly had a burst appendix, a record company friend was in a terrible motorcycle accident, another friend’s family was in a serious car accident, a piece of lighting injures an actress on set and now comes news on Tuesday, our friend Corey Taylor passed out on RockStar Mayhem stage in Dallas (altho he tweeted later that he was just overheated and got dizzy, and thanked fans for their concern.) Meanwhile, Slipknot’s final live performance of 2012 will be broadcast worldwide via pay per view during the group’s first-ever Knotfest, an extraordinary two-date metal and hard rock festival. The “Slipknot Live At Knotfest” event from Somerset, Wisconsin is in partnership with Todocast and Event View Live. The official broadcast site will launch today, July 11 via www.EventViewLive.com. “One of our long-time dreams, is finally coming to fruition with the creation of Knotfest,” says M. Shawn Crahan (a.k.a. Clown.) “Our goal was to create a festival experience which screamed our vision. It means everything for everyone to see the live spectacle we’re creating in the flesh, but we understand some fans around the world can’t be at the show. We’ve now made it possible for you to be there in spirit — so join us live on August 18th.”
The “Slipknot Live At Knotfest“ event can be accessed from any Internet device at $14.95 for early bird fans starting today, July 11 through August 11. The week before the event, the price will rise to $19.95. Fans who purchase early will receive full access to “Slipknot Saturdays” which begin Saturday, July 14 (and continue each Saturday until the event) and feature exclusive performances and video footage documenting the road to Knotfest. The “Slipknot Live At Knotfest” event will include all the insanity that goes on backstage. Fans can pause it. Rewind it. Re-watch it. Day-of-show footage includes a behind-the-scenes tour of the festival grounds, pre-show interviews with Knotfest artists, the stunning high definition main-stage performance of Slipknot as well as exclusive post-show interviews with the band. The entire “Slipknot Live At Knotfest” event package is available to purchasers for on-demand viewing for 30 days following the event.…Metallica will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their classic debut album Kill ‘Em All with the help of Vans sneakers. The metal legends and the lifestyle/footwear giant will partner up and release a pair of Vans Slip On sneaks and a pair of Sk8 Hi’s, both of which will feature the iconic hand and hammer design that defines the album’s cover art. The shoes are due out next year. The band is also selling a line of sunglasses. What will they think of next???…On Aug 7th, Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) will release Rob Zombie’s Mondo Sex Head, featuring new and unique remixes of Rob Zombie classics by some of today’s top DJs, including KoRn’s Jonathan “JDevil” Davis, Photek, the Bloody Beetroots, Drumcorps and Ki:Theory. Mondo Sex Head was curated and executive produced by Jason Bentley, Music Director at L.A.’s influential KCRW and Electronic Dance Music expert. Richard Bishop, co-executive producer of RE:GENERATION music project and documentary film, supervised the project. Each track was hand selected by Rob Zombie who road-tested many of the songs in his car, driving the L.A. streets. The first track to be sent to us radio folk is the remix of “ThunderKiss ’65” that JD did. Cool stuff…..Alien Ant Farm are heading to Chicago to begin recording their next album (their first since 2006) with Johnny K. Singer Dryden Mitchell says the band, which includes original members Tye Zamora and Terry Corso, along with drummer Mike Cosgrove, will come back with a newer sound. I like those guys, hope things work out for them….Even though it hasn’t been officially announced, the new Drowning Pool singer is Jason Moreno, from a Dallas based band called The Suicide Hook. This is their second “Jason” to step in front of the mike. When we ran into CJ Pierce at Rock on the Range, he told Lou Brutus and I that the new singer had very similar range and dynamics as Dave Williams, altho no one can ever match that fella’s charisma. I hope for good things for DP. They deserve it!….Meanwhile, we might be getting closer to announcing the HARDDRIVE LIVE FALL TOUR! If things work the way we hope, it’s gonna be very cool for you! Also you can look forward to a couple of KILLER CONTESTS we’ve got in the works, including CARNIVAL OF MADNESS, UPROAR and more!
