Happy Monday, people! (Although who says that and means it, really?) It was so hot in my apt last night (after being gone all weekend with the AC’s turned off) I was up all night! When the weather is super hot in the 90’s, the fine people of Con Ed decided in order to avert a “brown” or “black” out, they decrease the ampage of the electricity since there are a billion AC’s running at once in this city. So when you turn on your AC, you expect it to blow nice cold air at you in copious amounts when you set it on 65 to cool the place down to a nice refrigerator temperature I like. But NO BLOWING OF COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF COLD AIR here! It’s like there’s a little hamster in there paddling around to make the fan move! UGH! I know, shouldn’t complain, there’s a lot of folks who don’t have AC at all. For that, I am sorry. Ice cubes in the tube next….10 Years will be dropping by the hardDrive studios this morning, so trolling the sites for some news early today. With those guys, I discovered they moved the release date of Minus the Machine to Aug 7th from Jul 31st. Hate when they do that. I write scripts giving out that date on the shows, so if you hear Lou tellin’ ya the album comes out Jul 31st, my bad! The album will surprise a lot of long time 10 Years’ fans with it’s depth of sound. Heavy, yet very etherial and tool-ish at times…Pulse of Radio reports “Taciturn” will appear on Stone Sour’s upcoming fourth album, House Of Gold And Bones. The album is a two-part concept effort recorded at Sound Farm Studios outside Stone Sour’s home base in Iowa. Corey Taylor has played “Taciturn” acoustically at some of the recent festival appearances and fans seem to embrace the change. Taylor said, “That song translates so well acoustically. When I wrote ‘Taciturn’, I knew it was something that could go either way. It could be a full band piece or it could be something I could play on my own. If I was going to give the people a first taste of what ‘House Of Gold And Bones’ parts 1 and 2 are going to be, ‘Taciturn’ is a nice way to give them a cool picture of it even in a stripped-down sense. That song is essentially about trust. It’s about trying to find the courage to open up to the people you care about, love, and value, knowing that they’re going to be there to catch you when it all comes down. They’re going to be there for you when nobody else is. It’s about letting go of the anchors that hold you down in life, opening yourself up and saying, ‘If you’re there for me, I’ll be there for you. You’ve just got to give me a second‘.” Meanwhile, I was told Jim Root has returned to the Slipknot camp, as he was back with the band on Friday the 13th in Tampa, FL (where we had a hardDriveRadio contest winner!). Glad Jim’s all mended! I’ve got to figure out what date I am gonna see the Mayhem show. Guess it’ll be while I am upstate and they play at SPAC in Saratoga Springs. Maybe I can talk one of them into going to the racetrack to see the thoroughbreds….Happy 45th today to Will Ferrell and Live fans will be happy to know Ed Kowalycyzk turns 41.
