If you like really cool looking tv crime stories, with impossible twists and turns, with a great cast and camera work that is mind-boggling, I suggest you head to iTunes to find the 2011 and 2012 seasons of The Killing which aired on AMC. You will be amazed what a great and overlooked show this was. We binge watched it the last few weeks and man, I am going through withdrawls. And the story ended and there is no renewal of the show on the network. Bummer!…..I talked to Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach and I thought his voice sounded different and come to find out, he admitted in a recent interview he has been suffering from throat problems, according to Loudwire.com. Speaking backstage at a show in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Shaddix admitted, “I went to a vocal specialist. I have what’s called a node that’s forming on my vocal cord, so it’s like a callus on my vocal cord, and so it’s f***ing with my top range of my vocals for the last week, so I’ve actually been pretty bummed out.” He added, “I took some steroids, and that’ll help the swelling and hopefully that’ll help it go away. But if it doesn’t get better, it’s one of those things where you have to get surgery and do the whole thing.” Listen for him on upcoming editions of hardDrive and hardDrive XL and for their brand new “Still Swingin’” track from their forthcoming album The Connection due Oct 02 And check out a trailer for the song here…Pulse of Radio reports Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has posted a lengthy tribute letter online to late Deep Purple keyboardist Jon Lord, who passed away on Monday (Jul 16th) at the age of 71 after a long battle with cancer. Ulrich has long acknowledged Purple as the most influential band in his life. Writing at Metallica’s website, Ulrich said, “Ever since my father took me to see them in 1973 in Copenhagen, at the impressionable age of 9, Deep Purple has been the most constant, continuous and inspiring musical presence in my life. They have meant more to me than any other band in existence, and have had an enormous part in shaping who I am. So obviously I’m beyond bummed, saddened and devastated by today’s news of the untimely passing of keyboardist Jon Lord.” He added, “There simply was no musician like Jon Lord in the history of hard rock. Nobody. Period. There was nobody that played like him. There was nobody that sounded like him. There was nobody that wrote like him. There was nobody that looked like him. There was nobody more articulate, gentlemanly, warm, or f***ing cooler that ever played keyboards or got anywhere near a keyboard.” ….Three Days Grace also have an album coming on Oct 02 called Transit of Venus. I am hearing a new single will be on the airwaves in mid-August. I am hoping the band is returning this year to the 48 Hours Festival in Las Vegas in late September. Line-up should be announced on Monday….Also starting Monday, we have our CARNIVAL OF MADNESS contest coming. The singer remains incarcerated in Prague since Jun 27th on manslaughter charges, but may be a step closer to getting out on bail. A Czech court dismissed the prosecutor’s efforts to deny the singer bail, but at the same time doubled his bail so that he’ll have to come up with another $200,000 to get out. Blythe recently gave his first interview since being arrested for allegedly causing a fan’s death in 2010. Blythe said he doesn’t recall the incident at all and denies having anything to do with the fan’s death, adding that he is “getting along very well with the other inmates.” Blythe was also encouraged by a visit from his wife, and said he holds no grudges against the city of Prague itself….Happy 37th today to Daron Malakian of System of a Down and Scars on Broadway.
