Armstrong explained, “The last two albums, American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, sort of bookend each other, and it’s the end of that era. I think with writing these three albums . . . we just started writing songs, just getting back to basics, more stripped-down rock and roll.” Armstrong added, “We just started noticing the changes that were happening, so Uno! is more of a power-pop record, Dos! is more of a dirty, party, garage record, and Tre! is sort of this epic ending of the whole thing… So it’s kind of like going around the world in 37 songs with Green Day.” Bassist Mike Dirnt added there is no unifying theme tying all three albums together, saying, “Each album has its own personality. They’re not tied together in concept; it’s just three different sides of Green Day. We definitely never planned to do three albums; it just ended up being fun.” Uno! will be released on Sep 25th, with Dos! to follow on Nov 13th and Tre! coming on Jan 15th, 2013…When we ran into CJ Pierce of Drowning Pool at Rock on the Range back in May, he talked to us about their new lead singer Jasen Moreno, who came from the Dallas-based band The Suicide Hook, and how they ended up recruiting Moreno: “We got a lot of submissions in for singers. For a minute there, I wasn’t sure what we were gonna do. I didn’t want to go through this whole singer thing again. And we had a guy walk in, he learned every song off every one of our CDs. He’s a really super, super cool guy, and we went in the room and in three months we wrote 17 songs together.” Look for new Drowning Pool music this fall…..Dead Sara will be support The Offspring on a handful of dates starting Aug 31.
