First off, I was so bummed to read my favorite new band, Dead Sara, have been forced to bow out of the rest of this summer’s Warped Tour due to an injury to guitarist Siouxsie Medley. A statement issued by the group read, “We are sad to announce we are unable to play the remaining dates of the Vans Warped Tour due to our guitarist, Siouxsie, recently fracturing her ribs. Unfortunately, rib injuries are a tricky thing to heal and she has been advised to rest and recover for the next several weeks to avoid any permanent damage and cancellation of future shows.” Dead Sara’s run on the Warped Tour was supposed to last until Aug 5th in Portland, Oregon. The band has scattered dates booked after that until they begin an opening stint for the Offspring on Aug 31st in Detroit. They have yet to announce the status of the rest of the August gigs, although they’re expected to be ready for the Offspring trek. Wah!….Foxy Shazam are definitely up there on my most favorite FUN bands to see! Our own Lou Brutus did an amazing job introducing them at Rock on the Range (did you see that?) and now they’ve just released the new music video for their second single off The Church of Rock and Roll cd with the amazing “Holy Touch” video. The set consists of 19 songs from the band’s four major label studio albums, as well as live performances of “The Heretic Anthem” and “Purity,” plus a remix of “My Plague.” A 17-track bonus disc, (sic)nesses: Live at the Download Festival 2009, is also included in the package. And the DVD of “sicnesses” will be out on Sep 28th. Look, I am not against the right to own, sell or operate guns. I am against people being able to easily purchase online, without ANY SORT OF BACKGROUND CHECK including a MENTAL STATUS evaluation, massive amounts of ammo and weaponry, some of it that should only be used by the military!!! It’s just not safe, nor should it be legal. Sell a lawn mower, a hedge trimmer or whatever the hell you want online, I am opposed to individuals who sell their weapons without any regard to whom they are selling to or what the consequences could be from the misuse of such. And I am talking about weapons of MASS DESTRUCTION here. Hello! We live in the age of terrorism, and if THAT’S not enough reason to NOT BE SELLING these firearms to people unknown, I don’t know what is! Thank you.
