Hurray! Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has told Rolling Stone the band’s Orion Music + More festival, a two-day event featuring more than 20 bands which took place late last month in Atlantic City, New Jersey, will definitely be back in 2013 and won’t be moving far from its original location. Ulrich said, “We had a great experience in New Jersey, and as we look to 2013, we’re definitely looking to keep it in New Jersey or to keep it on the East Coast.” Even though the band is based on the West Coast, it staged the event on the other side of the country to make it easier for European fans to come. The two shows on June 22nd and 23rd sold a total of 24,000 tickets, according to the Press Of Atlantic City. Ok, so keeping in New Jersey, but not in AC? Hmmmm, if I were to guestimate where they would do it, I’d say in an amphi outside of Philly. Easier to get to from airports. But I’m just grabbin’ at straws. Only other place that might be able to accomodate is over on the Jersey Shore (Asbury Park) OR at the new Giants Stadium. Wonderers are just thinking out loud…. .Jasen Moreno is definitely the new singer for Drowning Pool. We hear new music, which was recorded in New Jersey with Kato Khandwala from David Bendeth‘s studios, is great! Hoping to have the single by the end of August. Jasen is from a Dallas based band called The Suicide Hook. Stay tuned….I guess these guys haven’t listened to Korn‘s The Path of Totality. Muse drummer Dominic Howard said in a new interview with NME the British trio was inspired by dubstep artist Skrillex when it wrote the track “Unsustainable” for its upcoming album The 2nd Law. Howard recalled, “We went to see Skrillex in Camden around October. We went, ‘F***, it’s so heavy,’ loved it. It was like a full metal gig, they had circles of death, people were moshing, I hadn’t seen a reaction like that to electronic music before.” Frontman Matt Bellamy added, “The moshpit has moved from guitars and gone towards the laptop, so with that song we’re trying to see if we can challenge the laptop. We created something that was dubsteppy but we wanted to see if we could do it with real instruments. We wanted to ask, ‘Can rock bands compete with what these guys are doing?‘” I like “Unsustainable,” although I do not believe it will be the band’s first single from the album. More as we get it….I am bummed by this news. Noisecreep updated the Randy Blythe drama: Lamb Of God singer Randy Blythe is still sitting in a Czech jail, almost a month after his arrest, thanks to the prosecutor in his case challenging his posting of bail for a second time. Blythe is accused of causing a head injury to a fan who was thrown off the stage at a 2010 Lamb Of God show and died two weeks later. The prosecutor is reportedly seeking to keep Blythe in prison until a possible trial begins so that he does not flee the country. A judge is set to rule on the prosecutor’s actions on Friday (July 27th) and if he rules in Blythe’s favor, the singer could be released within 10 days. Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy in Prague on July 11 released a very brief statement regarding Blythe: “The U.S. Embassy provides standard consular services to American citizens in need of assistance. We cannot discuss specific cases due to privacy concerns.”…Hit Papa Roach‘s website to see the making of the cover for their The Connection cd, designed by graphic artist Android Jones. It’s really cool….Happy 69th today to Rolling Stone frontman Mick Jagger! Wow! When I was growing up, the two big bands were The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. I think if you had asked me in the 60’s if I thought the Stones would still be around to tour and record in 2012, I would’ve said “If they live that long!” 😛…Happy 63rd to Queen drummer Roger Taylor and Happy 39th to actress Kate Beckinsale.
