Both shows will be headlined by Slipknot and will also feature sets from Deftones, Lamb Of God, Machine Head, Serj Tankian, Cannibal Corpse, The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Urge, Prong, Gojira and more. Both shows start around 3:00 p.m. and will end at 11:00 p.m. Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor told us the idea for Knotfest has been in the works for a long time: “We’ve been talking about the concept of Knotfest for years. That’s something that we’ve been kind of throwing around since the Iowa album cycle days. To be able to do it now, it was the time to do it. It’s obviously a passion project — we have no idea how well they’re gonna go, but at the same time, you know, this band has never shied from trying new things.” For those who can’t make it to either show, Slipknot will offer a pay-per-view online stream of the Wisconsin event. Fans will be able to watch it live as it happens, or for a full 30 days after the show. Bonus footage will include a behind-the-scenes tour of the festival grounds, pre-show interviews with many of the acts and a exclusive post-show interview with Slipknot. Knotfest will mark the end of Slipknot’s summer U.S. tour schedule, which also included a stint on the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival trek. The band’s U.S. shows, as well as gigs in Australia this past spring and Europe last year, were its first since the May 2010 death of bassist Paul Gray.
