Good day! Another show has been added to the 2012 hardDrive Live Tour! Sep 30th in Birmingham, AL at Club Zydeco! Tix on sale tomorrow! Bookmark our tour site for tix and more! (Will be up and running tomorrow!)… According to Rolling Stone. Guitarist Kim Thayil told the magazine about the yet-to-be-titled disc, “It re-establishes that we still rock, we’re still heavy, and we’re still a little weird,” Two songs on the CD will be called “Blood On The Valley Floor” and “A Thousand Days Before,” with Thayil saying that the latter “has a little Indian thing and some chicken-pickin’ . . . we call it ‘country and eastern.’” Soundgarden began recording the new disc in spring 2011, after reuniting the previous year. The last collection of all-new Soundgarden material was 1996’s Down On The Upside…..Theory Of A Deadman has announced a new string of fall headlining tour dates in support of the band’s most recent album, The Truth Is . . . . The dates, which begin in early September and stretch into late November, will find the Canadian act teaming up with Habitat for Humanity to sell $5 bracelets at their shows to benefit the cause and contribute towards a Theory-sponsored Habitat construction of a new home this fall. See all the dates in Road Rage!…Drowning Pool has released a new song called “In Memory Of…” to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the death of the band’s original singer, Dave Williams. The band said in a statement, “This song is dedicated to anyone and everyone who has lost a friend or family member. This one is from us to you, Dave.” Williams died on tour in 2002 of heart disease and other issues after singing on the band’s debut disc, Sinner. “In Memory Of…” is the first studio recording to feature new Drowning Pool singer Jasen Moreno, originally of a Dallas based band called The Suicide Hook, who replaced Ryan McCombs earlier this year. Guitarist C.J. Pierce told us what happened with McCombs: “You know, like with any relationship, sometimes they go sour and you just gotta go your own ways. You know, we had a great time with Ryan. We did a lot of great things with him — two great records I’m very proud of. But, you know, our relationship just kind of came to an end, like they do, and I wish him the best of luck.” McCombs returned to Soil last year….Pearl Jam has been giving vague updates on the progress of its 10th studio album for months, without fully committing to a recording schedule or a release date. But now guitarist Mike McCready has admitted to Spinthat the record is not really moving forward at the moment. He said that the project is in a “holding pattern,” explaining, “We’re just kind of sitting around, writing songs. We have about seven ideas so far that we did last year and we’re just kind of sitting on those right now.” McCready added that part of the reason for the delay was that vocalist Eddie Vedder is preparing for a solo tour, while drummer Matt Cameron was also working with Soundgarden, who are getting ready to issue their own new album. (Thanks to Pulse of Radio for those previous items)…I sat down yesterday with DJ Ashba from Guns ‘N Roses and we talked about a ton of topics, which included his appearance on Tuesday night on the Jimmy Fallon Show. He had a blast doing that. DJ is also promoting his new swag line and his anti-bullying site called Bullyville.com. He gave me a cool scarf he designed! I LOVE it! Anyhow, he’s also got a Gibson signature guitar coming out in November, and designed a few different Dodge Charger models that are set for showrooms in 2013. The guy is super talented and really sweet man! Gonna hang with him next month in Las Vegas when Lou Brutus and I head there for the RadioContraband Convention and the Rock Vegas Festival! Should be fun! Listen for DJ on hardDrive XL on Aug 29th. Meanwhile, according to a report on Blabbermouth, a British man who won the equivalent of $232 million in last Friday’s (Aug 10th) EuroMillions lottery has said that he wants to use some of the money to reunite the original lineup of Guns N’ Roses. The 41-year-old music shop owner Adrian Bayford told London’s newspaper The Sun when asked about how he would like to spend his winnings, “I think I would just have to get Guns N’ Roses together — the original lineup, mind. I’m a real fan.” LOL! Good luck!!! (I’m sure his wife is behind that idea!!! ; >)…I almost forgot to congratulate our friends Five Finger Death Punch on achieving their FIRST NUMBER ONE single on the rock charts with “Coming Down”! So stoked for them!….Sad news about a horrible tour bus accident outside of Bath, England involving the members of Baroness. Yesterday, (Wednesday, Aug 15) the bus was traveling through the small town, coming down a hill in heavy rain and slick roads, and according to reports, apparently skidded through a light at a main road intersection, sending the bus up and over an overpass down 30 feet to the road below. We understand two people (one we hear is the bus driver and one other passenger) had to be freed with the jaws of life, while another 7 passengers were treated for more minor injuries. We are waiting for more info. Such a bummer. Obviously, the rest of the European dates have been cancelled. Say a prayer for their speedy recovery…..Green Day will appear on the 2012 MTV VMA’s on Sep 6th…And yesterday marked the 35th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley and I believe the 10th anniversary of the death of Dave Williams of Drowning Pool. What a great kid he was! Too sad about his tragic death in his bus bunk at Ozzfest! I will never forget that day. 🙁
