The Smashing Pumpkins have announced they will launch a huge tour sponsored by Citi Private Pass on Oct 10th in Seattle. The set list will comprise of their newly released Oceania album in its entirety along with classic hits and deep tracks. As you can see in the photo, the tour will be accompanied by some amazing production as the band engaged Sean Evans, who did the video-mapping for Roger Waters‘ “The Wall” Tour, has prepared amazing visuals to go along. See Road Rage for a listing of cities the tour plans to hit, with more details in the coming days. You can check out the Pumpkins on the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” tonight on NBC (check local listings for broadcast times in your town.)….Foo Fighters have announced a special benefit show for Rock The Vote on Sep 5th in Charlotte, NC. The event at the Fillmore will be a rare club gig for the group, with the campaign geared toward making sure young people are registered to vote. Tickets, which went on sale Tuesday (Aug 21st), sold out in record time and must be picked up the night of the show. A press release stated, “The show will celebrate the power of young voters during the Democratic National Convention and support Rock the Vote’s ground-breaking efforts to register more than 1.5 million young people, educate and turn them out to vote this November.” I wanna go!…I guess the cat is out of the bag. Papa Roach, sadly, have been forced to leave the remaining dates on the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar tour, as well cancel their appearance at Rock Vegas next month. The reason is severe vocal cord strain for Jacoby Shaddix. He had a spell earlier this summer, and had worked with a vocal coach to learn to warm his voice up and down every night of performance days. (Many singers do not do this, but as ya get older, it is important to do it in order to save your voice.) So many singers suffer from weakened vocal cords and it is serious. In the case of Jacoby, doctors are evaluating whether or not he’ll need surgery, which will sideline the band for a few months or more. Not good news with the band’s single “Still Swingin’” doing great and their new album, The Connection, coming Oct 02. P.O.D. will replace Papa Roach’s slot on the bills, with P.O.D. tweeting to fans to pray for Jacoby’s swift recovery. I think we can all comply there…..Stone Sour are planning on hitting all 5 continents this year when they launch their world tour behind House of Gold and Bones-Part 1 album, due Oct 23. The band take off for their first leg on Oct 27th heading to Japan, then South America, Europe, the UK, Scandinavia and Australia (for Soundwave.) Man, this fall is really gonna rock, what with releases from them, Papa Roach, Three Days Grace in Oct, All That Remains, Soundgarden in Nov. And more for sure. Meanwhile, I hear Corey Taylor will be doing some unexpected solo gigs next month. Stay tuned….Pulse of Radio reports Linkin Park’s debut album, Hybrid Theory, sold 3,000 copies this week to pass 10 million in sales, what the RIAA classifies as “diamond” status, 12 years after its release in 2000. It’s the 20th record to reach that mark since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. Ironically, Hybrid Theory is the only Linkin Park album to not reach Number One on the Billboard chart, peaking instead at Number Two. The group earned the distinction last month of having more Number One albums on the Billboard 200 chart than any other act this century. That’s pretty awesome, right?…Boy, the sparks sure fly when a politician uses a band’s song without permission! Add Twisted Sister‘s Dee Snider to the long list of musicians that don’t want the GOP coming anywhere near their songs. Billboard reported that following presumptive Vice Presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan using the band’s 1984 signature tune “We’re Not Gonna Take It” at a recent rally, Snider snapped back. Snider, who wrote the song, issued a statement through his manager to Talking Points Memo, which reads: “I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan’s use of my band Twisted Sister’s song, ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It,’ in any capacity. There is almost nothing he stands for that I agree with except the use of the (workout program) P90X.” Love it! LOL…Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace will be on the hotLine today! Listen for him on hardDrive and hardDrive XL in the coming days! And yesterday, Gus Wood of Young Guns was on the hotLine. Good guy! Looking forward to their tour in early Sep.
