Football is back! I was happy somebody finally spoke out about Sean Payton! Fox Sports’ Terry Bradshaw was visibly shaken after ranting on tv on Sunday how crappy it is the coach of the New Orleans Saints is banned for a year from coaching. It is a tad extreme if you ask me. And I kind of thought it would energize the team, but not yesterday. Sigh….Stone Sour is filming a video for “Gone Sovereign” and “Absolute Zero” on Sep 26. The songs are tracks 1 and 2 off their forthcoming House of Gold & Bones-Part 1. I guess that means guitarist Jim Root‘s appendix surgery must be on the 27th. And it’s apparently the reason you won’t be seeing Stone Sour on some of their upcoming scheduled shows. But there is a Plan B, so stay tuned! And wonderers are wondering, will Rachel Bolan (Skid Row bassist who played on the album) be on the road with them when they finally do head out. Stay tuned….tool frontman Maynard James Keenan is adding columnist to his other duties as musician, producer, cabaret performer and winemaker. According to Loudwire, Keenan will begin writing a bi-weekly column for “Up On The Sun,” the music blog of the Phoenix New Times, beginning on today (Sep 10th). The site says that Keenan’s column “will feature his freewheeling examinations on whatever he feels like writing about, including music, wine, and . . . well, you’ll see.” Meanwhile, harvest season is coming for his grapes in the Arizona valley where he and Eric Glomski have their vineyards for Caduceus and Arizona Stonghold wineries. I have tasted these fine wines and they are delicious! Good luck to Maynard on this new side venture. I am sure his rantings, I mean, writings, will be entertaining. Turning to tool, we understand the band is working on music. I mean, they must be getting bored! The last album was in 2006!..Meanwhile, Maynard’s friend & band mate Billy Howerdel and A Perfect Circle have one show booked in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood on Dec. 29th….Green Day announced their tour. See Road Rage….Sober or not? Puddle Of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin claims he was sober when he tried to purchase one beer on a Jet Blue flight from Boston to Los Angeles that ended with him being thrown off the plane and arrested in Austin, Texas. Initial reports suggested that Scantlin was intoxicated and allegedly became aggressive after the attendant refused to sell him the alcohol, forcing the Los Angeles-bound plane to make an unplanned stop at Bergstrom International Airport in Austin, where Scantlin was arrested. But Scantlin told TMZ in a video interview that he was both wrongfully arrested and treated roughly by the police, saying, “When a grown man cannot purchase a beer on a five-hour flight from Boston to L.A., then the airlines are completely losing their minds. I was arrested for being sober on an airplane, trying to purchase a beer on Jet Blue.” Well, Wes, note to self, with air marshalls on planes these days, don’t make a scene!…Blabbermouth reports Jack White and Guns N’ Roses are among the acts that will perform at Neil Young‘s 26th annual Bridge School Benefit Concerts, scheduled for October 20th and 21st at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA outside of San Francisco. Tickets, priced from $35 to $150, go on sale on Friday (Sep 14th) at 10 a.m. through LiveNation.com, by calling (800) 745-3000 and at the Shoreline Amphi box office….Blabbermouth also reports Sevendust entered a studio in Butler, NJ a few days ago to begin recording its ninth studio album for an early 2013 release. The disc follows 2010’s Cold Day Memory as well as a longer than usual break during which four of the band’s five members launched two new side projects called Projected and Call Me No One. The former’s debut arrives on Sep 18th, while the latter released its first album in June. Sevendust has already posted footage of the early sessions online. Hmm, wonder if they’ll join us on Wed night to see Tremonti at the Highline Ballroom here in NYC! I know Jay Prevost of Middletown, NJ is coming with a guest! He won the Highline Ballroom tix and will be hanging with us in the balcony! Meanwhile, check out this new app called VIVOgig. It’s a new file sharing service where you can easily upload pix you take at shows. Looks cool too! Check it out here…I am excited about this, as I wanted to be there for the show. I know Lou Brutus was there! Industry sources are saying a Led Zeppelin double-CD / double-DVD of their 2007 reunion show in London will be released in Nov and titled, Led Zeppelin: Live At London’s O2 Arena. On Friday (Sep 7th), the band posted “hello” on it’s Facebook page, followed on Saturday by “Five” in the band’s classic font, followed on Sunday by “Four” — leading some fans to believe an official announcement is coming on Wednesday (Sep 12th). Sorry if I’m the spoilsport!…Happy 62nd today to Joe Perry of Aerosmith! And Happy 47th to Bush drummer Robin Goodridge.
