Slash and Foxy Shazam last night, and, oh, a monsoon-like rain storm with winds so strong, I thought it was going to blow grown men away. We were dining before the show and, literally, there were 3 men with umbrellas turned inside out standing defenseless, holding onto each other, against the patio door of the restaurant getting pummeled with rain and wind. Finally the manager got the keys to open the door to let them in. The suits were drenched. Through a miracle, when we paid the check to head to the club, the sky’s cleared and we were able to walk two blocks and stay perfectly dry! Unreal! Foxy Shazam, as always, are a delight to watch! I just love them! Hung out a bit backstage with them, then Slash came on and I had to watch a bit from the backstage upstairs platform (seen him, oh, a billion times, and he never fails to make me smile.) As I was leaving to head home, walking across the back of the stage behind the screen, who was standing there but Myles Kennedy! Got a big hug before he had to get back out there. Love him. See the tour if it’s coming to your town. Support the rock!…Green Day is now streaming its new album Uno! in its entirety at the group’s Facebook page. Fans can go there and click on the “Hear Uno! Now” tab to listen to the disc, which arrives in stores next Tuesday (Sep 25th). Uno! is the first of three new albums from the punk trio, with Dos! scheduled to arrive in Nov 13 and Tre! hitting the streets in Jan 15. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told Classic Rock after two doing concept albums in a row, Green Day wanted to do something just as big but also different. He explained, “I think there’s a big statement in putting out three albums, because right now people are so addicted to just singles. Making an album is like a lost art form. And where we come from is making albums — all our favorite bands make great albums.” Armstrong added, “It was time for a change and a new era. You just start with one simple song at a time, where less is more, but we made three albums and it ended up becoming epic. We wanted to make something that rocked really hard, and partied really hard, with a lot of meaning behind it. And a lot of soul.” But will it go to Broadway????…..Flyleaf have set Oct 30th as the release of their New Horizons album.
