Well, the wait is over! the 2012 hardDrive Live Tour with Tremonti and Man the Mighty begins it’s trek tonight at the legendary Machine Shop in Flint, MI! (Hey 101.5 the Banana listeners! Thank you!) We are so damn proud of this tour and if you are within driving distance, get over there to see this show! It is powerful! And truly, you will see Mark as you never have before! He really is one of the best guitar players in the world, hands down! And with a touring bassist named Wolfgang Van Halen, well, friends, that is the icing on the cake! Check out his album All I Was and you tell me I’m not crazy! And don’t just go for the show, meet the guy after the show! He literally hangs out with the band to meet every single person! He’s such a cool man! See all the dates, video from their Road to HardDrive Live dates, tickets and more at harddrivelivetour.com! …..Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach entering the hardDrive studios today and I am listening to an advance copy of The Connection. In a word: OUTSTANDING. More on Jacoby, who’ll do his first national radio interview with us, tomorrow….Bummed I couldn’t make it out to see Dead Sara and The Offspring last night. I heard Emily Armstrong made a surprise appearance with Dexter and the boys mid-way through The Offspring’s set!…Deftones have released a new song called “Leathers” at the band’s official website, deftones.com, as a limited-time free download. The track is taken from the group’s seventh album, Koi No Yokan, which comes out on Nov 13th and follows up 2010’s Diamond Eyes. The first official single from the set, called “Tempest,” will be sent to radio stations in Oct 09th. The new disc is the second recorded with bassist Sergio Vega filling in for Chi Cheng, who remains in a semi-comatose state as a result of a November 2008 car accident. (I actually got a little update on Chi, and sadly, nothing new to report on improvement. Continue to help fund his care at oneloveforchi.com.) Frontman Chino Moreno told us that Vega stepped up as a songwriter on Koi No Yokan: “This is our second time writing with him, so…obviously the Diamond Eyes record was the first thing, but even that, I still feel like, you know, he was, that was his first kind of part of being in the band and although he wrote a lot on that record and did a great job, I think he really came out of his shell a lot more in this writing process.” More with Chino on hardDrive and hardDrive XL in the coming weeks….Patrick Carney of the Black Keys was married on Saturday in Nashville at his home, and one of the guests was Olympic skateboarder Shaun White. Guess who was arrested for drunkeness and hotel room destruction the next morning? Shaun White….Happy 44th to Soundgarden bassist Ben Shepherd.
