First off, Slash and company had to cancel their appearance tonight on the Conan O’Brien show as Myles Kennedy is suffering from some type of illness. The band will reschedule a stop in December when they are in LA again for a stop at the Wiltern Theater, one of my most favorite theaters! Hope this doesn’t mean there will be a bumpy start to the Slash tour of the UK and Europe which begins on Sunday! Get well soon, Myles!….This is exciting and as soon as I finish typing this blog, I am gonna vote! Rush and Deep Purple are among the nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s class of 2013, according to Rolling Stone. The list, unveiled late Wed night (Oct 3rd), also includes Albert King, Chic, Donna Summer, Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Kraftwerk, the Marvelettes, the Meters, N.W.A., Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Procol Harum, Public Enemy and Randy Newman. The five acts who get the most votes will be inducted next April 18th at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. For the first time, the public will get to vote alongside other artists, music historians and industry insiders. Fans can vote from now until Dec 5th (my birthday!) at RollingStone.com for the nominees they’d like to see inducted. The top five acts compiled from fans’ votes will be submitted on a “fan’s ballot” and will count as one of the more than 600 ballots that determine the inductees. The results will be announced in mid-December. Rush is nominated for the first time, although they’ve been eligible since 1998 and fans have been demanding their inclusion for years. The Canadian power trio’s career has lasted for nearly 40 years and 20 albums, they still regularly pack arenas and they’ve influenced generations of heavy and progressive rock bands. Deep Purple is considered one of the biggest influences on the heavy metal genre, alongside Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. Several of the group’s albums, like Machine Head and In Rock, are considered masterpieces of the genre, along with songs such as “Smoke On The Water” and “Highway Star.” Both Slash and Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich have lobbied for their induction. Cool!…Deftones have announced a tour with Scars on Broadway. See them in Road Rage….There is finally a trailer for Rob Zombie‘s new film, The Lords of Salem, according to Hitfix. The horror film, Zombie’s fifth live-action feature, stars his wife Sheri Moon Zombie as a Massachusetts DJ who receives a record in the mail and discovers that playing the mysterious disc somehow activates a curse placed on her town by a coven of witches 300 years ago. There is no release date as of yet, although a ballpark theatrical release is tentatively set for first quarter of 2013. 01-13-13 perhaps????…..Now I recently had a tree removed from my property just because I wanted to avoid something like this! Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is being sued by his Beverly Hills neighbors — Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane and his wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart — after a nasty 2011 storm sent a large eucalyptus tree that was on Corgan’s property crashing into Dane and Gayheart’s home. According to TMZ, they claim that Gayheart, who was nine months pregnant at the time, had to evacuate the house as it flooded and broken power lines came down through the roof. In their lawsuit, which was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Dane alleges Corgan was warned about the trees on his property and failed to take action. Corgan told TMZ that was “patently untrue,” adding that he was “horrified” when he learned about the fallen tree but never received any warning about it….Pulse of Radio reports Kid Rock has made it clear for months that he’s voting for Mitt Romney for president, but told MTV News he doesn’t think it makes it impossible for him to be friends with people who disagree with him politically. Rock explained, “People are so angry at each other for their viewpoints. You know, yeah, I’m a little right-wing, I’m gonna vote for Mitt Romney, but that’s where my politics end, speaking to people who listen to my music, you know?” He added, “If you’re not (going to vote for Romney), it’s OK, we can still have a conversation and be friends and maybe enlighten each other on some views. I think thinking differently is what made this country great.” Rock also spoke about his upcoming album, Rebel Soul, saying, “I set out to make a greatest hits record, but with all new songs. After the last record that I did, which was pretty poignant and spoke about things that were going on in Detroit with the economic downturn, this was like, I just want to get back and make a fun Kid Rock record.” And that was the same conversation we had on Monday night! It really is a great album. And I have the cocktail glasses to prove it! LOL…Munky from Korn‘s side project, Fear & the Nervous System, are finally going to tour now that their self-titled album is out.
