Well, Three Days Grace did NOT disappoint one single fan last night at their show at their sold-out show at New York City’s Highline Ballroom, including yours truly who was rockin’ out in the balcony! They did 7 new songs last night off Transit of Venus. Loved the show, and talked to Adam, Neil and Brad yesterday. Found out Adam sang the national anthem at the New England Patriots-New York Jets’ game on Sunday, but little did he know, it wasn’t televised! WTH? Nope, wasn’t. But there is video footage of the performance and it will be made available to fans soon! Neil told me that he stays in touch with Trevor McNevin of Thousand Foot Krutch and they occasionally write music together (Neil performed drums on their first album and remain BFF’s.) Pretty cool. 3DG is also working out details for a big arena tour for the new year, and it should be announced in the coming weeks! And Brad told me his son James is doing well, just turned 6 the other day and only has one “maturing” cancerous tumor on his spine, but prognosis is good that he will beat this rare childhood cancer and you can help by donating to the James Fund via the band’s website: www.threedaysgrace.com ….Other big news of the day was the not so surprising announcement Lacey Mosely Sturm is leaving Flyleaf. She will not be touring with the band in support of their forthcoming New Horizons album, but has been replaced by Kristen May of Vedera. Bassist Pat Seals said in a statement on the band’s website, “As Flyleaf begins this new cycle to introduce our third record New Horizons, we feel our fans should know that Lacey has stepped down as lead vocalist of the band.” Lacey writes, “I have been beyond blessed to be in Flyleaf for the past ten years… It took everyone on our team to make the beauty in Flyleaf possible… I am very thankful to have recently become a mom to one of the greatest blessings of my life, my son Jack. You may have also heard that we recently lost our brilliant sound engineer, Rich Caldwell, in a devastating car accident. Now, more than ever, I understand the phrase Memento Mori. I understand that, for me, living life to the fullest in this season means to step down as the lead singer for Flyleaf. I wish the best to Jared, Pat, Sameer and James and I know that as I continue to pursue the highest heights of what I am created for, it will free them all to pursue that for themselves too.” Flyleaf’s new album, New Horizons, drops October 30. I kinda could see this coming. One, Lacey has had vocal issues in the past that have plagued her. Two, she is married and lives in Pittsburgh (away from the band who live in Texas) with her husband Joshua and son Jack and she is a contented stay at home Mom. Three, I can see how she would like to continue music on her own, with a different singing style, at some point in the future. So good on her and all the best to the band as they move on without her….. Now I don’t know where the report came from, but I saw this item: Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich is reported to be dating Jessica Miller, who was previously in a relationship with System Of A Down/Scars On Broadway guitarist Daron Malakian. The professional model has appeared on international editions of Vogue magazine. Ulrich has two sons with former wife, Skylar Satenstein and a third son with Danish actress Connie Nielsen. Man, the boy sure gets around!….Beyond The Thunder is a documentary film that pays homage to AC/DC and the influence they had on culture around the globe.
