Did this month go by quickly? I know this week did! Geez! And now comes news of FRANKENSTORM! Hurricane Sandy (I keep hearing Bruce Springsteen‘s song in my head) is possibly headed for a direct hit on Manhattan! Well, this will be a first for sure! I don’t know what to expect. Luckily, I am not on the top floor of the building. These old buildings tend to leak! Meanwhile, got an invite to the showing of a couple of multi-MILLION dollar apartments in NYC on Fifth Avenue and 36th Street sponsored by designer Fendi Casa. The views for the 59th floor wrap around apartment were spectacular! The Empire State building staring you in the face. The GE Building with the world famous Rainbow Room and Observatory on the other side. You’d be able to watch the ball drop and the Macy’s Fireworks display from your living room! But there is something to be said about living in a neighborhood with trees and kids and dogs that makes me say no to the realtor. That, and the fact I couldn’t afford the mortgage! LOL I’ll stick with my 1900 brick co-op in Morningside thank you very much!….Well, not a whole lot of news today really. Pulse of Radio informs us Corey Taylor has said Slipknot is on hiatus, despite the fact the band has a handful of dates already set for next June….Was on the phone yesterday with Ian Thornley of Big Wreck. I passed along a hello from fellow Toronto native Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace, who he refers to as “Ad-sie.” No touring plans for Big Wreck in the states as of yet. Funny, Ian’s speaking voice sounds exactly like Chris Cornell‘s…..Smells like a Joke! Here’s one I got direct from Loudwire and it’s a doozy! Courtney Love is reportedly developing a Nirvana-based musical for Broadway or the big screen. The widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain is apparently teaming up with music industry manager Sam Lutfi, who is currently in a legal battle with former client Britney Spears. According to the New York Daily News, Lutfi spoke about working with Love to create the Nirvana musical during his testimony in the current Britney Spears trial. “[Courtney Love and I] are currently working on a possible motion picture or Broadway musical based on the Nirvana catalog, based on her life and Kurt Cobain’s,’ said Lufti during the trial. He claims to be co-managing Love, whom he calls “an accomplished actress.” “She’s been talking about doing a movie or play about her life with Kurt for a long time,” claims an insider to the New York Daily News. “So far, nothing has materialized from it… It’s been her dream to get her side of the story out.” Courtney Love was recently forced to hand over rights to use Kurt Cobain’s name, likeness and image to daughter Frances Bean Cobain, due to the terms of a $2.75 million loan Love took against Frances Bean’s personal trust fund in 2010. Nirvana seem to be a hot topic in the entertainment world lately, as a writer from ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is reportedly creating a sitcom for CBS called ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit.’ Poor Kurt, spinning in his grave about now, don’t ya think?….Next week, Chino from the Deftones will offer up his time for an interview for us, and Smashing Pumpkins is in town on Halloween. Still don’t know what to go as for Halloween this year. I was considering the dude from the Ancient Alien tv show, the dude with the weird hair and the lipse? But I can’t get my hair to do that…..Celebrating birthdays this weekend: Today: Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is 66, Seth McFarlane of Family Guy is 39. Saturday, Scott Weiland turns 45, Kelly Osbourne 28 and Monty Python’s John Cleese is a ripe ole 73. Sunday, former Filter bassist and now guitarist for Device (with David Draiman) Geno Lenardo turns 43 and Bill Microsoft Gates turns a very rich 57. Have a great weekend all! Go Saints! Come on Tigers!
