Whew! I am one of the lucky ones here in NYC. No damage to our building or block! We are fortunate our electric and phone lines are underground and I live on a hill! But many friends, not so lucky who live by the beach, especially in Queens and Brooklyn, and many friends in Jersey who have property, boats, etc. underwater or have no power. Our public transit system has been badly damaged by water. Train lines covered by downed trees. Bus yards flooded. It is BAD! And electrical system on east side below 39th Street is out indefinitely! A giant 30 ton crane is dangling from an 80 story building on W 57th St. NOT good. Anyhow, let’s talk about the music, shall we?….Green Day announced yesterday (Oct 29th) it is canceling all remaining scheduled live appearances for 2012, including a small venue tour that was set to launch on Nov 26th in Seattle. In addition, the band is postponing all the dates of a 2013 North American arena tour from Jan 7th in Green Bay, Wisconsin through Feb 8th in Las Vegas. While the fall trek is scrapped permanently and refunds will be available for ticket holders, the early 2013 shows will be rescheduled and tickets for the original dates will be honored when the new ones are confirmed. The canceled and postponed tour plans come in the wake of frontman Billie Joe Armstrong‘s entry into rehab for substance abuse in late September. Bassist Mike Dirnt said in a statement, “Obviously the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s well-being is our main concern. We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can’t wait to see you all again soon.” Man, this is a lot worse than we had originally were led to believe. AND if you recall, similar situation happened to James Hetfield of Metallica, and that took months to resolve as well. So we hope the best for Billie and that he doesn’t become any less of a punkster than he’s always been!….Bullet For My Valentine has set February 12th, 2013 as the release date for its fourth studio album, Temper Temper. The title track has just been released, while an official first single from the disc will arrive early next year. The quartet has spent most of 2012 off the road to work on the new set, which frontman Matt Tuck told us he prefers: “Once we’re starting a record, I just want to be there until it’s done. Our label, on that, have other ideas. Like on (debut album) Poison, we were taken out of the studio to go on a tour. (Second album) Scream Aim Fire, we were taken out of the studio to go on tour. On (third album) Fever, we weren’t and the results spoke for themselves.” Their U.S. tour for March is having the finishing touches placed on it and we will have some exciting news to share once it is…..Buckcherry has announced that its sixth studio album, Confessions, will come out in early 2013 through Century Media Records in the U.S., according to Metal Underground. This marks a change from the band’s three previous studio efforts, which have all come out through the Atlantic label. Frontman Josh Todd said about the disc, “This is our coolest album yet and I think a lot of people will relate, if you love BC you are going to get a chance to be part of a great story — join the revolution and let’s rock!” Confessions is a loose concept album that revolves around the notion of the seven deadly sins. Josh Todd has also helped co-write a short film to come out around the same time as the album and expand upon the record’s themes. Todd spoke with us about the movie: “I had a tragic event happen when I was a kid, and it kind of shaped the way I am as, you know, a person and an artist and I wanted to kind of write a feel-good story around it but, you know, also there’s a dark element to it and there’s a love interest as well in the movie, and it’s gonna be cool and I think it’s gonna be great for our fans that love Buckcherry and the fans that are coming in for the first time.”…Happy 47th today to Gavin Rossdale of Bush!
