Election Day, people! Don’t forget to VOTE! Polls open ’til 9 PM in most states, so get your heinies out there and do it! JUST DO IT!…..Relief efforts from celebs in the news for starters today. X Factor creator Simon Cowell has donated $25,000 to the New York Daily News Hurricane Sandy relief fund. He said in a statement, “I’m proud to give my support to the Daily News Sandy appeal. This has been a terrible tragedy for so many families who have had their lives and homes destroyed. I hope everyone gets all the help they need to put their lives back together as soon as possible.” Russell Crowe posted on Twitter, “In honor of Seth & L.I Coast Guard & friends on Staten Island, donated to NYC Mayor’s Fund and plant a million trees fund.” And even the cast of Jersey Shore is motivated to help as they are partnering with MTV to raise money to help rebuild the Seaside Heights boardwalk in New Jersey. The “Restore the Shore” fundraiser will also benefit local businesses and residents in the seaside community where the decades old amusement park and boardwalk, not to mention countless homes, were battered or destroyed by the superstorm a week ago. You can also help. Contact your local Salvation Army to see if they have bins set up for Sandy aid. See if your local churches are involved in the efforts as well. And you can always donate to both the Salvation Army or Red Cross. Do whatever you can, please!….Well, glad to see Courtney Love has shot down rumors of a Nirvana musical in the works, according to Rolling Stone. Reports surfaced recently that on-again, off-again Britney Spears manager Sam Lufti claimed he was working with Love on a Broadway show, which would focus on the life of her husband, late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, as well as their marriage and the band’s career. But Love told England’s Guardian, “There will be no musical. Sometimes it’s best just to leave things alone.” Let’s hope she sticks to that, eh?….Godsmack frontman Sully Erna has once again been sidelined by an injury, according to Blabbermouth. The singer has been forced to pull out of the Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon, scheduled for November 11th in San Antonio, Texas, after sustaining an unspecified injury. A statement posted at the band’s website read, “Unfortunately, because of an injury, Sully has chosen to back out of the San Antonio Marathon on Nov. 11. He plans on continuing his training as soon as he is feeling better and appreciates all the fan support thus far. Fortunately, there will be other marathons in the near future and he looks forward to participating in one of them. He may have to take a little break for now, but he WILL be back in action very soon!”….Chevelle’s Pete Loeffler told me yesterday his knee injury is a lot worse than he thought! He’s been on the mend for a month now after falling off the stage in Tucson, AZ during their gig at the Rialto. Turns out the venue’s stage has this odd “moat” around the edge (I guess for lights and cables, etc.) and he was warned of it during rehearsals. During the show, he thought he was getting ready to straddle it but misjudged the depth and fell, hard, on his knee and side, breaking his guitar! The pain was bad and he was taken to his bus, where he laid down to ice his knee for a while. He said his brother Sam came in to tell him he had to come back out to let the audience know something: that he was ok and whether or not he could go on with the show. He went back out (carried) and was placed in a chair. Once he got his guitar in hand, he said he did 6 more songs, although he didn’t know how he did it since the pain was horrible. Then continued on the road for a few more shows to finish the run, But upon returning home and seeing a doctor, he was told he had fractured his tibia under his knee cap and should have immediately sought medical help! So now he’s in a brace and can not put ANY weight on it. His physical therapy starts on Thursday and he has to rest is leg for at least another month. But knowing him, he never stops writing. So he wrote a new song “Fizgig” which will appear on a Favorites Collection (a collection of fan favs, rarieties and this one new song.) The disc should be out in December. Pete said he’s really excited about the song because it’s a little different than anything they’ve done and can’t wait for people to hear it! Me too! Chevelle has 3 radio shows in December to do and then we’ll see what’s next for them. Pete also said he is working on other material and the plan is to once again work with producer Joe Barresi. Be listening for Chevelle in the coming weeks on both hardDrive and the XL! Meanwhile, at the time, Sam was over to his house helping him install blinds. During Sam’s time off, he’s building motorcycle with some friends!….I don’t know what I think about Timmy Comerford of Rage Against the Machine being approached by TMZ. Seems so non-radical of him to even talk to them! He told them the other day when asked if Rage was going to make another album, “Definitely, maybe. Anything’s possible.” On second thought, perhaps the answer is as radical as one could be when posed the question he can not answer! LOL Best part: his missing upper canine tooth! Must’ve been another dirt bike accident there, Timmy C?
