Well, today I was supposed to be in the air on the way to Las Vegas for something called Sunset Sessions! But once again, weather has hampered the most well-laid plans. So I am staying put rather than get delayed in the airport all day and then only be able to spend 36 hrs in Sin City. So, next time, Wheel of Fortune slot machine, next time….Meanwhile, last night I was offered an impromptu invite to hear Henry Rollins interview West Memphis Three former Death Row inmate Damien Echols at the New York Public Library. It was riveting. From day one, Henry was a big supporter of finding evidence to reverse the indictment of the 3 teens from West Memphis, Arkansas who were wrongly accused for the “satanic ritual” murder of 3 young boys back in 1993 . Artists like Eddie Vedder, Metallica, Disturbed, Johnny Depp, Natalie Maines and others supported the movement to help prove the WM3’s innocence. In 2011, after the supporters helped to finance DNA testing on evidence from the crime scene, the 3 convicted men, Echols, Jessie Misskelley, Jr and Jason Baldwin, were released via the Alford Plea, a rare legal mechanism in which “no contest” pleas are entered but innocence is nevertheless maintained. requiring them the plead guilty to the crimes they did not commit. The men spent 18 years in prison and Echols has written a book, “Life After Death.” Interesting note: Rollins did a tour that raised over $200,000 to help finanace the DNA research. I plan to get the book. Needless to say, the event was mesmerizing. And look for a documentary directed by Peter Jackson on the West Memphis Three in the coming months…Was excited to read this this morning! Kid Rock has responded to the re-election of President Barack Obama, who won a second term in the White House on Tuesday (Nov 6th) after beating Republican challenger Mitt Romney. While Rock endorsed Romney and campaigned with him, Rock told us he believes everyone should put the campaign behind them and see what happens next: “I think it’s okay to disagree, to move forward — now that we’ve elected our president — to move forward, give him a shot, you know, and if you don’t agree in four years, we’ll be able to do this process again. And so many people have died to protect that, that I think it’s important to be involved in some way.” We have a killer interview with Kid Rock you will hear in the coming weeks! Don’t forget, Kid Rock has Rebel Soul coming out on Monday! Check it out on iTunes….Shinedown only just released its fourth album, Amaryllis, earlier this year, but frontman Brent Smith told NME in a new interview he has a surprise for fans. Smith revealed, “I’ve thought about new material. It’s funny because — and you’re actually the very first person I’ll tell this too — we’ve actually, we have another record of material. It’s actually recorded.” While not giving any details on what the album is called or when it might surface, Smith said about the music, “It’s still very massive. It has a very epic feel to it, but the tempos are a little slower and the subject matter is a little different. I would say it’s actually a bit darker — a little bit more mischievous.“…Halestorm has just released a digital EP called In The Live Room, which is now available on iTunes. The six-song set was recorded live on Oct 31st at Sear Sound Studios in New York City as part of The Warner Sound’s original series, “The Live Room.” The series captures artists performing live sessions in some of the most iconic recording studios across America. The Lzzy Hale-led act kicks off a fall headlining U.S. tour on Thursday (Nov 8th) in Mobile, AL, wrapping up on Dec 15th in Orlando, FL with In This Moment and Eve to Adam….With all the other projects on his plate — scoring movies and video games, plus launching a new band — it may come as a surprise Trent Reznor absolutely intends to revive Nine Inch Nails. Reznor told Rolling Stone “all signs point to yes,” adding, “Yeah, there will be new music. There are some things in the works.” Reznor has also not ruled out live shows, saying, “If it feels right, it’s a possibility. I never said that that wasn’t going to happen, just that it couldn’t go on as it was.” It was 2009 when Reznor took out Nine Inch Nails on what was then billed as a 20th anniversary farewell tour, although he never definitively ruled out either new music or more live shows from the band, of which he has been the only constant member. During the break, he and Atticus Ross scored the films The Social Network — for which they won an Oscar — and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, while also starting a new band called How To Destroy Angels. Reznor has also composed music for the upcoming Call Of Duty: Black Ops II video game. But now he says, “Having a few years doing other things, I’ve enjoyed (them) and I’m enjoying doing How To Destroy Angels, and there will be a place for stuff that falls in the Nine Inch Nails column of things.” Reznor has not given any timetable on when we might hear new music from Nine Inch Nails or see the band on the road again. (Thanks Pulse of Radio for many of the reports today.)…Happy 27th to Jack Osbourne!
