Is it ONLY Wednesday? Since I worked on Sunday, I guess it should feel like Thursday! Last night’s intimate Soundgarden show was so good, but so freakin’ PACKED. People were hanging off the damn rafters! Arrived at 9 with a batch of important radio program and music directors after a sumptuous meal and the VIP area was already teaming with people. Rule of the VIP section at Irving Plaza: If You Don’t Arrive Early for a Big Show, You Will Not Be Able to See the Band. So most of us were forced to view from the upstairs bar video monitors. Damn! Oh well. They sounded amazing. Chris sang his ASS off and I also heard the show the night before at the Bowery Ballroom (this was AFTER they performed on Letterman and the Live on Letterman soundstage afterwards for a full set..) The Bowery show was an acoustic performance from Chris, but you had to have known the rest of the band would join him, Their manager Gary Gersh told me it was the first time the band had ever done anything acoustic together and maybe for the shows in January, we might see a portion of the set done acoustically. Sorry I missed THAT show for sure! Anyhow, I got a set list from last night’s show in case you want to see it.

And I was so bummed after squeezing my way all through the VIP and soundboard area because I couldn’t find Foo FIghters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who was in the crowd! Double Damn! In other news, Pulse Content reports it’s apparently not cool enough that Dave Grohl is once again playing drums for Queens Of The Stone Age. Queens founder and frontman Josh Homme has also recruited Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails to contribute to the album. Reznor himself broke the news when asked on Reddit about the various projects he’s working on. Reznor listed several things, including, “Helping Josh out on a new QOTSA track.” Reznor’s current band, How To Destroy Angels, released an EP called An Omen on yesterday (Nov 13th) and is preparing its debut full-length album for release in 2013…..Today I am stoked to get Mr Matt Saunders, aka M Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold on the hardDrive hotLine! I watched their new video yesterday for “Carry On” and was BLOWN AWAY on how freaking amazing it is with the band portrayed as action characters as if they were a part of Call of Duty! I LOVE IT! So I will find out what the band is up to and ask Matt about some little side project he’s given a hand to!….Tonight Lou Brutus will get Randy Armstrong of Red on the hotLine. Red have a killer new album coming out on Feb 5th called Release the Panic. Produced by Howard Benson, the first single is called “Perfect Life” and I understand the song was inspired by the Karadashians! WHAT? Yes! Apparently Howard’s studio (and home) is high in the hills of LA overlooking the Karadashian Kompound. So they got to take in an awful lot of activity. Be listening for Lou’s interview on the air soon!….Happy 37th today to Travis Barker of Blink 182 and Happy 33rd to Tobin Esperance of Papa Roach!
