Exciting day! I am recording a session with Brent Smith of Shinedown today as he will be co-hosting the final hardDrive of 2012 with Lou Brutus! Be sure to be listening the weekend of Dec 29-30! And welcome to our newest weekend affiliate, 103-9/103-5 WQBK Albany, NY!!!… Blabbermouth reports an all-star lineup of guests joined the Camp Freddy covers band last Tuesday (Dec 11th) for a closing night performance at the Dell World technology expo in Austin, Texas. Among the guest performers were Linkin Park‘s Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington, David Draiman of Disturbed, Sully Erna of Godsmack, Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, Limp Bizkit‘s Fred Durst and others. The set list included songs from Kiss, Rage Against The Machine, Joe Walsh, Alice In Chains, Metallica, Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses and many more. Camp Freddy is a Los Angeles-based “jam” band featuring Dave Navarro and Chris Chaney of Jane’s Addiction, Matt Sorum of Velvet Revolver, singer Donovan Leitch and a rotating roster of other musicians. Damn, wish I was at that show with my recorder! Imagine the after-party!….Alice in Chains will debut their new song “Hollow” later today at Aliceinchains.com. Not being a technical whiz, I took a picture that I was inspired to take from the lyrics of the song, downloaded the Instagram app, but have NO IDEA how to upload the picture to their #hollowaic. HELP! Anyhow, I hear the album will be out in April. And “Hollow” is not the official single from the album, even though it is heavy and great. The official single is coming in the new year. Waiting to hear when the band will be available for interviews. As soon as I get something squared away, I’ll let ya know!….Speaking of AIC, saw this on Blabbermouth. Guitarist Jerry Cantrell joined Walking Papers, the new Seattle band featuring former Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin, longtime Seattle musician Jeff Angell and ex-Guns N Roses and Velvet Revolver bass player Duff McKagan, on stage this past Saturday (Dec 15) at the sold-out Crocodile in Seattle to perform the songs “Your Secret’s Safe With Me” and “Two Tickets”. Check out video footage of Cantrell’s appearance over on Blabbermouth. Photos can be found at this location. Jerry’s sporting a new do! ;> BTW: Sean Kinney, AIC’s drummer, is one of the owners of the Crocodile club there in Seattle….Happy 4-0 today to DJ Lethal of Limp Bizkit! Happy 69th to the immortal Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, Happy 48th to Stone Cold Steve Austin and Happy 49th to (sigh) Brad Pitt. A former work associate Callie Khouri, who wrote Thelma and Louise, discovered him. (sigh). She actually wrote part of that script on the office computer we shared in LA many moons ago.
