Metallica has announced its Orion Music + More festival, which debuted last June 22nd and 23rd in Atlantic City, New Jersey, will be back for a second year. This time, the event will take place on June 8th and 9th, 2013 in Detroit. More details regarding tickets and the lineup for the show will be revealed in February. A teaser trailer for the event has been posted online. Drummer Lars Ulrich told us earlier this year that the growth of European-style festivals in the U.S. led the band to give their own a try: “Four years ago we played Bonnaroo in Tennessee, and that was like the first time we did something that had that kind of European flavor in America, and we thought it was really, really cool. And we thought, there were 75,000 people there that were digging it, and we thought that maybe that kind of vibe could actually work in America, and maybe that we could carve out our own little niche and try to see if we could get something off the ground.”….Avenged Sevenfold has confirmed that it will enter the studio in January to begin recording its sixth album. The new disc will follow up 2010’s Nightmare, which reached Number One on the Billboard album chart. Singer M. Shadows gave NME.com a hint of what the upcoming set would sound like, saying, “This album’s a little more groove orientated. There’s a little bit more groove to it, a little bit more focused on bigger riffs. So that’s where it’s headed — every song has gotta have a huge riff and every song has to have a groove to it.”….Lostprophets have issued a statement following Wednesday’s (December 19th) shocking news that singer Ian Watkins was charged with six counts of sexual misconduct related to children. The group’s statement said, “Following charges made today against Ian Watkins, we find ourselves in a state of shock. We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers.” …..The Bamboozle, New Jersey’s biggest rock, punk and pop festival since its launch in 2005, has been canceled for 2013 with no explanation. The show was launched seven years ago at the Asbury Park boardwalk and returned there last year after several editions were staged in the Giants Stadium parking lot.
