Still reeling over the Three Days Grace announcement yesterday. Didn’t see that one coming, for sure! I posted a special report on it yesterday…..And I didn’t predict this since we assumed he’d be touring with Stone Sour and unavailable, but The Salt Lake Tribute has confirmed Stone Sour and Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor will perform with Dave Grohl at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah on Jan 18th, joining Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins and Eleven/Queens Of The Stone Age guitarist Alain Johannes as part of Grohl’s Sound City Players. The gig, for which more guests will be announced, will celebrate the festival premiere of the Sound City: Real To Reel, Grohl’s directorial debut. I am guessing Tom Petty, and members of Nirvana could also certainly be there. Wonder how much it will cost to fly there?…Sevendust has released “Decay,” the first single from its upcoming ninth studio album, Black Out The Sun. The disc will be released on March 26th and is the band’s first set of all-new material since 2010’s Cold Day Memory. Guitarist John Connolly said the project was one of the fastest the band ever worked on, telling Revolver, “The craziest thing about this record is finishing it in about a month. We haven’t done that since our debut album. This is one of the fastest records we’ve ever made, but also one of the strongest — working off instinct mostly.“…The bubble gum/baseball card folks at Topps have come up with a line called “Heavy Metal Autographs” according to a report on Blabbermouth. A set of 25 printed on metal (hmmm, does that change the flavor of the gum I wonder…) includes Tommy Lee, members of Winger, Lita Ford, Dee Snider, Scott Ian and Steven Pearcy of Ratt. Excuse me, but where’s Black Sabbath, Metallica and Kiss?…Happiest of birthdays to our friend Brent Smith of Shinedown.Today’s Brent’s 35th. And Happy 35th to former 3 Doors Down member Matt Roberts.
