In addition to making Sound City, assembling the Sound City Players and contributing drum tracks to the new Queens Of The Stone Age album, Dave Grohl has somehow found time to also play with a new band called RDGLDGRN. He recorded drum tracks for the band’s yet-to-be-titled debut album after a chance meeting with the group at the Sound City facility, and has hinted that he may even play live with them later in the year. (NME)….Ex-Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch told Artist Direct in a new interview that he is “really excited” about reuniting with his former group for four shows this spring and summer. We’ve been emailing and I think something else is brewing! After being initially announced to join them at two German festivals, Welch has now also signed on for a U.K. concert and an appearance at Columbus, Ohio’s Rock On The Range extravaganza in May. Welch played one song with the band last May at the Carolina Rebellionfestival, marking his first time onstage with them in eight years. Welch said, “It’s a bit surreal because I didn’t expect it to happen. We have no hate for each other like some of these other bands that haven’t talked in years. People grew. Everyone went to different places in life . . . It was so long that I didn’t see it happening, but then when it crept up on me last May during Carolina Rebellion, I saw the emotion. Nothing else mattered except reconciliation, brotherly love, and that family feel with the guys and the fans. People were in tears. I thought, ‘This is a really good thing.‘” Oh I hope this is the beginning of a new realm for Korn! I am sorry to see Wes go, he is a good dude!….Pulse Content reports the lineup for the 2013 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival has been unveiled, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phoenix, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blur, the Stone Roses, The xx and the Postal Service tapped as headliners. The event will once again run on two weekends, from April 12th through the 14th and April 19th through the 21st, at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California. Tickets go on sale next Tuesday (Jan 29th) at 10:00 a.m. PT. Other acts confirmed for the show include Of Monsters And Men, Modest Mouse, Trent Reznor‘s How To Destroy Angels, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Airborne Toxic Event, Franz Ferdinand, Puscifer, Passion Pit, Vampire Weekend, Social Distortion, the Wu-Tang Clan, Grizzly Bear and Lou Reed…. Skillet are just the third rock act to have their latest album certified platinum for sales of more than one million copies. The group’s eighth studio effort, Awake, hit the magic number in 2012, joining the Black Keys‘ El Camino and Mumford And Sons‘ Babelas one of just three rock records to do so. The band got the news while in the studio finishing up their new CD, which is due out this spring. Frontman John Cooper said about the new album, “Musically, this record feels like a roller coaster ride. Several tracks are aggressive with dirtier and edgier guitars. Korey (Cooper)’s keyboards are extremely unique and (drummer) Jen (Ledger)’s great vocals are showcased throughout the album. There are some powerful anthems and the ‘signature Skillet’ songs our fans tend to love: symphonic, classical rock duets.” See Skillet at Rock on the Range this year!…..Buckcherry singer Josh Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson have both spoken recently about the short film that will accompany the band’s upcoming album, Confessions. Todd told us the movie idea arose partially out of the desire to find new ways to market the band’s music: “There’s a lot of things changing as far as how you put a record out there, and market a record, and we wanted to have something different on this one, and we felt like this was the right way to go.” Meanwhile, Nelson told Lithium magazine that the idea for the movie came directly from the lyrics Todd was writing for their new songs, explaining, “Josh’s lyrics started to take on a really cinematic quality. I encouraged Josh to write from his view almost from a character’s point of view. The realization happened that we’ve been doing this long enough; I trust our artistic instincts on levels other than musical. So we start writing these songs and . . .
