His legacy will not be forgotten….Super Bowl FRENZY is everywhere! Who are you rooting for? I am so jealous! Not one but two new Green Day documentaries will premiere at the 2013 South By Southwest music and film festival, scheduled to run between March 8th and 16th in Austin, Texas. The first Green Day documentary will be Cuatro!, the behind-the-scenes chronicle of the making of the band’s three new albums, Uno!, Dos! and Tre!. The second one is Broadway Idiot, which follows Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong as he makes his way to Broadway with the stage musical version of the band’s 2004 punk opera, American Idiot. Also premiering will be Artifact, which details the brutal, year-long battle fought by 30 Seconds To Mars against its record label (EMI) as it made its third album, This Is War. The film was directed by singer Jared Leto under his Bartholomew Cubbins pseudonym. Also showing at the festival will be Dave Grohl‘s Sound City documentary, which premiered last month at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. The Foo Fighters frontman directed the movie, which is about a legendary Los Angeles recording studio. The film premiered in Los Angeles last night (Jan 31st) and opens today (Feb 1st) in limited theatrical release, while also now available on DVD and VOD. More than 109 films will screen at South By Southwest, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. I will be on a panel on March 15th. Can’t wait! And can’t wait to eat Ironworks’ BBQ, yo!…..Grabbed this off RobZombie.com, “I think for the first time this new album perfectly merges the old days of White Zombie with the future of what I am doing now. I think fans of both will agree that this is the perfect combo of both worlds” A rock icon and auteur filmmaker with insight and unlimited vision, Rob Zombie has continuously challenged audiences as he stretches the boundaries of music, film, and publishing. Now, the seven-time Grammy®-nominated recording artist releases his fifth solo album, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, which streets April 23, and includes the first single, “Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Super Town,” along with such tracks as “Ging Gang Gong De Do Gong De Laga Raga,” “Lucifer Rising,” “Behold! The Pretty Filthy Creatures” (Oh Rob, you’re so verbose! Can these titles get any longer???) and a heavy-duty cover of Grand Funk Railroad’s “We’re an American Band.” (Ohhh, goodie! Cover song! Me like that for our Cover song special editions of hardDrive!) Rob’s Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor is the first release on his new label, Zodiac Swan, through T-Boy Records/UMe. Looking forward. Guess I better get on the horn with his manager and get an interview lined up soon!….Pulse Content reports Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose looks like he may lose his $20 million lawsuit filed against video game giant Activision Blizzard, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Rose sued the company in November 2010, claiming it used an image of former Guns guitarist Slash in Guitar Hero IIIafter promising him that the game would not feature any reference to Rose’s ex-bandmate. Rose claimed that was a condition of him agreeing to license the song “Welcome To The Jungle” for use in the game. However, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge indicated on Thursday (Jan 31st) he is inclined to dismiss Rose’s suit because he did not file it until a full three years after the game’s October 2007 release. Rose has said he was not aware of Slash’s image in the game until later, although documents in the case indicated that an attorney for the singer emailed Activision about it around the time the game came out. Sorry Axl! You lost! When are you gonna get over your hatred (or is it jealousy) of Slash, who totally rules!!??? Get over it….Tomorrow is Ground Hog Day. Certainly there will be 6 more weeks of winter…..Happy 42nd today to Dexter’ actor Michael C. Hall. On Saturday, Very Happy 47th to Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots. And on Sunday, back in 1967, Jimi Hendrix recorded “Purple Haze.” That was 46 years ago! Insane!
