Day before leaving for Austin and I am packing and repacking! Going from 40 degrees to 80 is crazy! ARGH! My skin is too white to be seen! Could blind someone!…..We had an interview with Lars Ulrich on Monday and he was waxing poetic about the actor in the upcoming Metallica 3D film, Metallica: Through the Never. Lars told us that the band was impressed with lead actor Dane DeHaan‘s performance in the movie: “Dane DeHaan, who is the star of the film, is so incredibly cool and so dynamic and magnetic, you just sit there and you can’t take your eyes off him. And every time it cuts to somebody in the band, like (James) Hetfield or myself, it’s like, ‘Go back to Dane again!’ He’s just fantastic. He’s gonna be a major, major movie star in the next five, 10 years.” Sounds interesting. Look for it August 9th in theaters….In my effort to mention Dave Grohl every day, here’s an item from Pulse Content. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has revealed in a new interview with TChadQuarterly.com why he chose to never perform songs by his previous band Nirvana with the Foos. Even though he was Nirvana’s drummer for two albums through the most successful stage of their career, Grohl decided to sink or swim with his own songs after Kurt Cobain‘s death ended Nirvana in 1994. Grohl explained, “There’s a reason why the Foo Fighters don’t blast out Nirvana songs every night: because we have a lot of respect for them. You know, that’s hallowed ground. We have to be careful. We have to tread lightly. We have talked about it before, but the opportunity hasn’t really come up, or it just hasn’t felt right.” In a funny way, I agree with him. As much as people would like to hear those songs, I am glad they have put them away like trophies. I got my golden ticket for the Sound City Players show tomorrow night, and damn happy about it! Maybe I can take a picture that will come out this time….The sixth annual Rockapalooza Festival has been set to take place on eight different stages at the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Jackson, Michigan on June 22nd.
