Well, let me start the day out with an item on Dave! Pulse Content reports Although Dave Grohl says he’s been reluctant to play any music from Nirvana live in the past, performing recently at Sound City Players gigs with former Nirvana members Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear has made it more of a possibility. In fact, Grohl revealed to NME the three of them had discussed doing it — and asking British alternative diva P.J. Harvey to sing. Grohl explained, “Every once in a while we talk about it. For the Sound City gig here in London (last month), we were thinking about musicians that we could invite because Stevie Nicks and John Fogerty couldn’t make it. Someone came up with the idea of doing a Nirvana song with P.J. Harvey.” Grohl added, “Kurt (Cobain) loved her and we love her and we thought, ‘Yeah, what would we do?’ I said, ‘God, what if we were to do “Milk It” from In Utero with Polly (P.J. Harvey) singing?’ We all looked at each other like, ‘Whoa, that would be amazing,’ and then she couldn’t do it.” Grohl reiterated his reluctance to play Nirvana material, saying, “The thing is, it’s sacred ground. If we were ever to do something like that it would have be right because you want to pay tribute. There’s a reason Foo Fighters don’t do Nirvana songs, and it’s a good reason.“….I spoke with Tool’s publicist. Could there be a chance to speak with Adam Jones about this? Oh I certainly hope so since Tool is putting a little something extra in five copies of the upcoming deluxe edition of the band’s 1992 debut EP, Opiate. A certificate called the “Seal of Xatanitos” will be placed in five random copies of the disc, which comes out next Tuesday (March 26th). The prize for fans who find a ticket in their copy of the EP will be disclosed only to each of the five winners. The 21st anniversary limited edition of Opiate is limited to 5,000 copies and features art direction by guitarist Adam Jones, along with illustrations and designs from several artists who have collaborated with Tool on the spectacular packaging for albums 10,000 Days and Lateralus. There will be five sets of 1,000 copies, with each set featuring a variation of the exterior graphics. Bonus items will include a new stereoscopic image for fans to use with their 3D glasses from the 10,000 Days packaging. The reissue will only be available for ordering through Tool’s website, with a small number set aside for purchase on Friday (March 22nd) by fan club members….Imagine my shock yesterday when I reached in my mailbox and retrieved the new issue of Revolver. Email me……Blabbermouth reports ex-Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland is still having a hard time understanding that the band fired him. Weiland told Vindy.com, “They’ve done it before, and they can do it again. They’re good players. I respect them. Every band has issues. I just think sometimes people say things before they really think about it. I know that I’ve done that in the past.” Asked if he was closing the door to ever working with STP again, Weiland said, “Definitely not.” We’d be curious to know their thoughts on that….Saw online that Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne‘s gigantic Hidden Hills mansion just outside of LA is on the market for just under $12 million!
