Good Monday to ya all! Hope you had a great weekend! Man, I am so out of my brackets for March Madness, it’s STOOPID! And it goes to show you: I was thinking of picking both Harvard AND Florida Gulf Coast and thought to myself, “Could a bunch of brainy guys and a college who no one ever heard of before possibly win? Naaaahhhhh!” See, goes to show ya: Go with your gut!….Pulse Content reports a preview of Soundgarden‘s upcoming appearance on the PBS concert program Live From The Artist’s Den has been posted online, according to Blabbermouth. A crew from the Emmy-nominated series filmed the quartet’s February 17th concert at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, the last gig of a three-night stand there, and will air the episode sometime later this year. The set featured 28 songs from all eras of the band’s career, including early rarities, hit singles, fan favorites and material from King Animal, the grunge legends’ first set of new songs in 16 years. On April 20th, Record Store Day, Soundgarden will release a limited edition vinyl collection of demos for King Animal. The six-song package will be pressed on 10-inch pink vinyl and will also include a free digital download card….I met Gage Crahan on an Ozzfest or some big festival Slipknot was on back several years ago. He was this tall, lanky kid who was playing frisbee in the parking lot by the buses. Kinda quiet, kept to himself. Now I read he has a band and seems Dad Shawn is quite the proud papa! Crahan admitted to tearing up as he watched his 19-year-old son record vocal tracks for a song called “Sad Things.” Crahan wrote in part, “I took my son Gage and his friends AJ and Todd to Jr’s Motel Recording Studio tonight. I actually cried watching my son sing. These young men slammed so hard through all their takes it was literally impossible not to take their pain serious . . . I won’t lie, watching their anger made me feel a little old, but that’s only because they reminded me about everything I’ve done and who I am.’ Crahan added, “Watching my son sing was so personal and real it made me so proud. I’ve lived now. Whenever I want to hang it up for good I can because there is a new Crahan in town and he is coming for the world with his dream.” Aw, dude, that’s so awesome!…..Shinedown bassist Eric Bass suffered a second degree sprain of his ankle on Friday night (March 22nd) during a concert at the Lone Star Event Center in Lubbock, Texas. It’s unclear how the accident happened, but it did send Bass to the hospital. There was no word yet on whether the sprain would force Bass or the band to sit out any dates on its current tour, which next stops in Denver on Monday (March 25th). Bass posted a photo of himself in the hospital at his Twitter page. (Loudwire)…Queens Of The Stone Age have begun posting snippets of music from their sixth studio album at the band’s official website. Every time you refresh the website, a different brief sample plays. The album is tentatively titled …Like Clockwork and is due out in June. The group’s first new set of songs since 2007’s Era Vulgaris features drums by Dave Grohl (ya knew I couldn’t have a day without a Dave Grohl mention, right?) along with guest appearances from Trent Reznor, Mark Lanegan and possibly Elton John. Check out the samples at www.qotsa.com (Antiquiet)…Footage has been posted online of Metallica‘s legendary 1995 performance at the Whisky-A-Go-Go in Los Angeles, where the band donned long black-haired wigs and performed as The Lemmys. The group played a set of Motorhead songs in honor of frontman Lemmy Kilmister‘s 50th birthday. Drummer Lars Ulrich recalled to So What! magazine, “As we walked toward the Whisky stage (for the first time since supporting Saxon in 1982), the f***ing look on people’s faces, classic. I started ‘Overkill’ and immediately swallowed half the wig, but who gives a f***, and off we went.” (Blabbermouth).. And keep an eye peeled for a special giveaway we will be doing with Hurt members J. Loren & Michael Roberts for their new project together called Arco’s Angel! …Was sorry to hear of the break up of My Chemical Romance. Me thinks new solo projects will be in the making soon, so do not fret…..Speaking of Sir Elton, he turns 66 today! And NASCAR’s Danica Patrick is 31. Happy Birthday!!!
