Sad day, this. On this day in 1994, Kurt Cobain‘s body was discovered by an electrician who had a previously scheduled appointment at his home. Apparently, Kurt had killed himself with a shotrun on April 5th, but wasn’t discovered until 3 days later. A local Seattle newspaper published unseen photos from the scene (not of the scene, but the aftermath.) You can see the article and the photos of Cobain’s home here. Ironically, April 5th, 2002, Layne Staley was also found dead, presumably of a drug overdose at his home in Seattle. Sad days indeed. We lost two of the most amazing and unique artists ever…..Pulse Content reports Rob Zombie is auctioning off a “fan experience” to raise money for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, according to Loudwire. Check it out here…..Ozzy is oretty amped over the new Black Sabbath album, 13, which will drop Jun 11th. We are hoping to get Mr O in the hotline soon. In the meantime, he told Triple M radio in Australia this: “The album is mind-blowing, that’s how good it is. I’m so over the moon about the way the album turned out. We wrote 16 songs … and I put it on my CD player, expecting me to be unhappy with the end result, but this big grin came on my face and my hair on the back on my neck [stood up] … It’s better than my wildest dreams; it’s so good.” The singer continues, “People have been quoting me that this album was quite possibly the most important album of my career. What I meant by that is I didn’t want it to sound like a follow-up to ‘Never Say Die!’ ’cause that was when we were dying out within the band … I know if you’re a Sabbath fan, you will not be disappointed. It’s so Sabbath-y, it’s scary. It’s the album we should have made after ‘Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Believe me, I’m the guy that goes, ‘Ah, there’s a mistake there.’ I look for the mistake,” Ozzy describes. “If there’s one mistake, I’ll find it. But this album is great, perfect. It’s very, very heavy, there’s no getting away from the fact that it is Black Sabbath, and you can hear every instrument and everything clearly. It’s so heavy. I’m so excited about it.” I recall asking Ozzy years ago about whether there would ever be another Sabbath album and he said then that if all the other members wanted to do it and if they could come up with great material, he’d be all for it. Looks like Ozzy continues to be a man of his word! Very exciting. The band just announced a vast European tour to commence in November 20 through December 20 in his hometown of Birmingham, England. So cool!….Just heard the new Queens of the Stone Age track called “My God Is The Sun” off their forthcoming Like Clockwork album, due in June. It’s good…..New albums out tomorrow, as earlier mentioned, Device, and Stone Sour‘s House of Gold and Bones, Part 2.
