Hey there! Man, yesterday was an out-pouring of love! I arrived to the office to find a dozen BLACK roses with a card of thanks from the Black Veil Brides for hardDriveRadio‘s support! How sweet! (Actually they were spray-painted black, but they’re are beautiful to see, but smell like spray paint instead of a lovely rose scent. But I ain’t complainin’!!) Then I got an email from Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach, also thanking hardDriveRadio for helping them achieve a number ONE single on the active rock chart! (He said he was “greatful.” Of course, I HAD to correct him, it’s “grateful” like the Dead.) LOL He got a kick out of that. So it is really nice to be acknowledged by some of my favorite rockers when all we do is play the great music they give us! 🙂 (Will have to take a photo of those roses and post ’em.)….Whoa! Congrats to Killswitch Engage! Their sixth studio album, Disarm The Descent, sold around 48,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at Number Seven on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart yesterday (April 10th). The CD arrived in stores on April 2nd. The band’s previous set, a 2009 self-titled effort, sold 58,000 copies to also enter the chart at Number Seven, tying the two records for the band’s highest chart placement. Disarm The Descent is the band’s first album with original singer Jesse Leach since 2002’s Alive Or Just Breathing. Leach returned to the band in January 2012 after a decade-long absence. The first single from the new CD which you can hear on hardDrive and hardDrive XL with Lou Brutus, “In Due Time,” has cracked the Top 20 on the Active Rock radio chart. Cool stuff!….The Sturgis Rally for 2013 has signed Rob Zombie to he it’s headliner this year! Zombie joins Kid Rock, ZZ Top, Halestorm, Sublime with Rome, Mastodon, Machine Head and more at America’s largest motorcycle and music festival to be held at the legendary Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, SD August 2-11. For more, hit the Buffalo Chip website…Speaking of Detroit’s favorite son, Pulse Content reports Kid Rock puts himself on the wrong side of most conservative thinking these days in a new Rolling Stone interview, despite calling himself a Republican and campaigning for Mitt Romney last year. For one thing, Rock seems to advocate redistribution of wealth, saying, “Athletes and musicians make astronomical amounts of money. People get paid $100 million to throw a baseball! Shouldn’t we all take less and pass some of that money onto others? Think about firefighters, teachers and policemen. We should celebrate people that are intellectually smart and trying to make this world a better place.” Setting his own example, Rock is going on tour this summer and charging $20 for most of the tickets, saying, “We’re all so overpaid. It’s ridiculous. People stopped going to concerts because they can’t afford them. The Rolling Stones are charging $650 per ticket! That just makes me speechless.” (Hey, it’s probably The Stones’ last hurrah, if ya know what I mean, so they’re gonna go out blazing and cashin’ it in for sure!) Rock said he is going in as an equal partner with Live Nation on the tour, saying that he told the company, “‘Don’t guarantee me a dime; if nobody shows up, I’ll lose money’ . . . Even if it sells out, I’ll take a pay cut.”….Well, the drummer of Scott Weiland‘s band has left the fold. Apparently he’s had it with Scott. Danny Thompson posted this on his Facebook: “I have just officially QUIT The Scott Weiland Solo Band. Loved playing with the guys for 7 years but it’s a matter of self worth. Not going to elaborate.” Despite saying he wouldn’t elaborate, Thompson hinted at a reason in a response to a fan asking why he left, saying, “Carley really? You know better then most. The Darkness...” Thompson’s mention of the Darkness might have been a reference to the British act going on hiatus in 2006 due to frontman Justin Hawkins‘ substance abuse. Meanwhile, Scott just added several new shows. See them in Road Rage….And finally today, DVR Alert! Black Sabbath will make a rare television appearance when the band performs a new song on the season finale of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, according to Blabbermouth. The episode is set to air on Wednesday, May 15th at 10:00 p.m. ET on CBS-TV. The band will world premiere a song called “End Of The Beginning” from their upcoming album 13. The episode’s plot follows the CSI team as they investigate a series of murder that resemble the sins in Dante’s Inferno, with the trail leading the detectives played by Ted Danson and Marc Vann to attend a Sabbath concert…..Happy 50th today to former Bush guitarist Nigel Pulsford.
