Let’s start off today thinking about others! A fund has been set up for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings called The One Fund. They’ve already raised a whopping 21 MILLION DOLLARS with matching funds from companies like New Balance and Bain Capital. This is awesome. If you can donate, click here….Ya know, I’m gonna try this on my garden this year! An expert gardener from England has declared plants love to listen to the music of Black Sabbath. According to the U.K.’s Guardian, gardening wizard Chris Beardshaw recently launched an experimental program to determine the effects of different kinds of music on flora, saying that the crunching, doom-laden sounds of Sabbath “worked wonders on a greenhouse full of plants.” Beardshaw set up four different greenhouses to eliminate any one-time anomalies, with different sounds in each one, and found heavy metal was easily the plants’ preferred choice. He explained, “We had one that was silent — that was a control house — and we had one that was played classical music, we had one that was played Cliff Richard and we had one that was played Black Sabbath . . . It was alstroemerias ** we were growing and we bombarded these glasshouses with sound for the life of the plant.” ** This flower is like ones you see in many bouquets, they look like little lillies and come in different pastel colors. I think it’s a sweet experiment, don’t you? Bombard the neighbors with the new Sabbath!…..Speaking of Sabbath, here’s a story I just saw on Blabbermouth. Ozzy Osbourne‘s wife/manager Sharon has shot down reports that the couple were divorcing after 31 years of marriage, insisting that they will overcome their problems and stay together. On yesterday’s (Tuesday, April 23rd) edition of CBS daytime talk show “The Talk”, which she co-hosts, Sharon addressed conflicting media reports and rumors surrounding her alleged split with Ozzy, stating: “Everything that was printed in the tabloids has been distorted. “There’s always a little seed of truth to everything that gets reported, but then it gets very distorted. The only thing that’s true was the Facebook posting that my husband did on his Facebook where he said he’s been using alcohol and prescription drugs for the last year and a half, and that he’s been an asshole, and he’s been in a very dark place. That’s true — it’s very true.
Everybody knows he’s been struggling with this his entire life, and I never knew that he was using prescription drugs. I knew he was drinking occasionally, but I didn’t realize, you know, to the extent. It’s our business, we’re dealing with it. We’re not getting divorced, however. Am I happy? No. Am I upset? Yes, I am. I’m devastated right now. It’s a disease that not only hurts the person that has the disease, but it hurts the family. It hurts people who love you. “We’re dealing with it. We’ve dealt with worse, and we will deal with it, and this, too, shall pass… Otherwise, my husband will be taken to hospital to get my foot removed from his ass.” Ozzy admitted he relapsed into drug and alcohol abuse for the past year and a half in a statement posted by the Black Sabbath singer on his Facebook page a week or so ago. He wrote: “For the last year and a half, I have been drinking and taking drugs. I was in a very dark place and was an aasshole to the people I love most, my family. However, I am happy to say that I am now 44 days sober.” …..Congrats are in order to our Canadian friends. Three Days Grace made chart history this week by scoring its 10th Number One single at Active Rock radio with the song “The High Road.” The track is the second single from the Canadian act’s fourth album, Transit Of Venus, which arrived last fall. The group is now the leader in Number One singles at the format, followed by Linkin Park and Shinedown who are tied with nine apiece. Three Days Grace is currently on a headlining tour with Matt Walst filling in for singer Adam Gontier, who left the group last December….Australian rock band Wolfmother will officially break up at the end of the week after playing one final show together. Frontman Andrew Stockdale has confirmed that the group’s opening stint for Aerosmith in Melbourne this Sunday (April 28th) will be its last concert. Stockdale plans to launch a career as a solo artist and will release his first album, Keep Moving, next month. The first single is dropping on Friday called “Long Way To Go.” I was told it has a very “Led Zeppelin vibe” to it….Speaking of Zeppelin, Jimmy Page‘s representative, Peter Mensch of Q Prime Management, recently sat down for an “Ask Me Anything” online interview with Reddit.com and shed some light on the upcoming Led Zeppelin remasters. Mensch revealed, “As for the remaster box sets, Jimmy is digging through the archives for material that’s never been released to the public before. (We haven’t heard it yet either, so don’t ask!) . . . Some of the reissued box sets will come out this year, but in the world of Led Zeppelin, time is a fungible thing. Hopefully will have a box set for Coda too. Depends on what’s in the archives.” When pressed by a couple of fans as to whether he thinks another Zeppelin reunion is in the cards he said: “Honestly, my gut tells me they won’t.” What a drag. Led Zeppelin was the first show I remember going to. 1969. Yes, I am that old….Got email from Young Guns‘ management who said the boys are having such a great time on the hardDrive Live Tour!
