The news reported today of a woman who was removed from a flight from LA to NYC for singing, non-stop, “I Will Always Love You,” off-key practically half way across the country. The plane landed in Kansas City where she was removed from the cabin. Times like these when your own headphones and some nice LOUD HARD MUSIC comes in extremely handy!…..Damn, wish I wasn’t so busy preparing to head off to Rock on the Range or I would definitely be checking this out tonight! 30 Seconds To Mars will perform a special show on Tuesday night (May 14th) at historic St. Peter’s Church in Manhattan’s Chelsea district, during which the band will preview songs from its upcoming album Love Lust Faith + Dreams. The event will be filmed by online music and entertainment streaming service Vevo for a concert special that will be webcast at a later date. Love Lust Faith + Dreams arrives one week later on May 21st and follows up 2009’s This Is War. The show will feature a mix of electric and acoustic numbers, according to a press release. St. Peter’s Church is located on West 20th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues in the New York borough of Manhattan (I was at that church years ago for Liza Minelli‘s wedding to David Guest when Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor were in the wedding party! I know, so random!) The first single from the new album, “Up In The Air,” is currently Number Five on the Modern Rock radio chart and Number 22 on the Active Rock chart. Creating a webcast for Vevo is just one more notch in the belts of a band that has been an earlier adopter of online tech to reach its fans. Singer Jared Leto told us a while back about his interest in this field: “What’s interesting is using new technologies to enhance the idea of communication and to further community. I’m always interested in where the online meets the offline and, you know, we look forward to operating in that space a lot more in the future.” 30 Seconds To Mars will perform on the outdoor stage of ABC-TV’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! on May 21st and on TNT’s Conan (O’Brien) on May 22nd….In stores today, the great new album from Pop Evil, Onyx. Produced and recorded in Chicago at Johnny K‘s GrooveMaster Studios, the band is on tour now and you can catch them this weekend at Rock on the Range! And Escape the Fate are back with Ungrateful…It’s So Easy And Other Lies, an autobiographical documentary about the life of former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, will be previewed this week at the Cannes Film Festival in France, where distributor Vision Films will be showing a teaser and clips from the film to prospective buyers. The film, based on McKagan’s best-selling memoir, features rare archival footage from the early days of Guns N’ Roses as well as interviews with colleagues like Pearl Jam‘s Mike McCready and Nirvana‘s Krist Novoselic. The movie will also feature recent footage of McKagan performing with his bands Walking Papers and Loaded. Release plans are yet to be determined. (Blabbermouth)…Happy 47th today to Mike Inez of Alice In Chains! (Can’t wait to see them this weekend at Rock on the Range!)
