Hélas, les vacances sont fini et je suis de retour devant mon ordinateur! Oh wait, I am in the U.S. Speak ENGLISH! Many thanks to my trusty assistant, Paulie Walnuts, for filling in for me while I was away! He rocks! Ok, so here’s the latest: Metallica’s Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone Metallica has over 600 bits and riffs of songs in their arsenal (another French word) and are not even close to entering a recording studio. So don’t expect anything til 2014. And probably mid to late 2014 at best. Their next project is the 3-D movie, “Metallica: Through the Never” due in early August. Dunno if there will be a soundtrack to that, but with these guys, you never know!….Pulse Content reports Nine Inch Nails has revealed the full track list and roster of musicians for its upcoming album, Hesitation Marks, and the latter includes some surprising revelations. Among the guest artists on the disc are guitarist Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac and bassist Pino Palladino, a longtime touring member of The Who. Former King Crimson guitarist Adrian Belew, who briefly joined the NIN lineup earlier this year, still appears on the album as well. In addition to the first single, “Came Back Haunted,” the 14-song disc includes titles such as “The Eater Of Dreams,” “All Time Low,” “Various Methods Of Escape,” “While I’m Still Here” and “Black Noise.” Hesitation Marks, the first NIN album since 2008’s The Slip, will arrive on Sep 3rd. NIN main man Trent Reznor has tapped cult filmmaker David Lynch to direct the music video for “Came Back Haunted.” Lynch and Reznor last collaborated in 1997, when Reznor composed music and compiled songs by other artists for the soundtrack of Lynch’s film Lost Highway. Nine Inch Nails has confirmed a lengthy North American tour for the fall, beginning on Sep 28th in St. Paul, Minnesota. The band will make its live return on July 26th at the Fuji Rock Festivalin Japan. Really hoping to snag an interview with Trent on this album. Stay tuned…..Pulse also reports Red Hot Chili Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis got into a brawl with two security guards for the Rolling Stones outside the Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia on Friday (June 21st). According to Loudwire, both Kiedis and the Stones happened to be staying at the hotel at the same time, with the Chili Peppers headlining that night at the Firefly Music Festival in nearby Delaware. According to TMZ, the Stones were about to leave the hotel when Kiedis and an unidentified lady friend walked up and attempted to enter. One of the security guards refused to let them pass, blocking Kiedis and the woman until Kiedis pushed the guard. That incited a shoving match between the singer and the guard that was joined by another guard who grabbed Kiedis by the head. In shaky video footage taken of the incident, Kiedis can be seen and heard screaming, “I live here!” as one guard falls to the ground. Police eventually arrived on the scene and settled things down, with Kiedis and the guard making peace and Kiedis later telling TMZ, “I love the Rolling Stones.” A source close to the Stones said that the two guards were not actually part of the band’s regular security team, but could have been local hands hired for extra protection during the group’s stay. The Chili Peppers are on a break for the rest of June and July and next play two nights in Anchorage, Alaska on August 5th and 6th. (I think Anthony’s new appearance didn’t make him readily recognizable to the guards.) They recorded their yet-to-be-titled debut disc in Slipknot’s hometown of Des Moines, Iowa at Sound Farm Studios. Scar The Martyr’s debut album was produced by Rhys Fulber, whose production and mixing credits include Fear Factory, Rob Zombie, Mindless Self Indulgence, Front Line Assembly and more. The as-yet-untitled album is slated to arrive later this fall. Jordison plays drums on the entire album, as well as bass on all songs and rhythm guitar on all but two numbers. The album was written by Joey and lead vocalist Henry Derek Bonner, who were joined in the studio by former Nine Inch Nails keyboardist Chris Vrenna and guitarists Jed Simon and Kris Norris. Jordison told Metal Hammer how the music for this project came about, saying, “I started focusing on a lot of the post-punk and industrial stuff that I’ve always loved and started putting super heavy and brutal guitars over the top of it. That’s how it started. It’s taken me a couple of years to get to this point, but I can honestly say this is the most satisfied I’ve ever been in the studio.” Jordison has done side projects before, most notably the band Murderdolls. He has also been a touring drummer for Korn, Rob Zombie and Ministry….Skillet are coming to NYC tomorrow to promote their new album, Rise. Funny, while over in France, we were in a cafe and the only english I was understanding in a conversation by a group of kids was Jeff Beck. So we engaged in their conversation about Beck and what an amazing player he is and he is only now being introduced to a new audience. (I was a fan in the late 60’s-early 70’s.) If you have time today, search Jeff Beck Group on YouTube and listen to the undeniable talent of Monsieur Beck! Merci pour s’arrêter par aujourd’hui!
