Well. the long 4 day holiday weekend is here and I, for one, am ecstatic!
But I just hope the weather gives us a break. Nothing but gray heat and humidity and rain! Ugh! Feel like it’s been with me since Paris! Anyhow, here’s some news to brighten up anyone’s day! My friends Seether have remained quiet since coming off the road at the end of 2012, but now the band has surfaced on Twitter to share some news with fans. According to Loudwire, the trio are hard at work on their fifth studio album, posting a message on Sunday (June 30th) that said, “Working on some new music in LA. Only three tracks for now. Scheduled for release later this year.” On Tuesday (July 2nd), the band followed that up with a 15-second clip of new music, writing, “New s-t we’re working on.” Nothing else — an album title, a release date, a producer — has been confirmed yet. The new disc will follow up 2011’s Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray, which debuted at Number Two on the Billboard album chart and yielded four Top Five smashes at Active Rock radio, including the chart-toppers “Tonight” and “Country Song.” I, for one, am getting antsy for some new Seether music. I am sure Shaun and the boys are wanting to best their last record, which is going to be a feat. But I am sure they are up to the task at hand! For more, hit this…..Pearl Jam has launched a countdown clock online at the band’s official website that is scheduled to hit zero on July 8th at 1:00 p.m. ET. The band is scheduled to make a major announcement at that time, with most of the speculation suggesting that the group will be unveiling details about its 10th studio album. The clock is also part of a revamped look for the site itself, which is now more basic and streamlined. Rumors have been swirling for a while that a new Pearl Jam single called “Mind Your Manners” will arrive Jul 11th, according to my source, and the song was compared soundwise to “World Wide Suicide,” to be followed by an album in the fall. The band has been working intermittently on the follow-up to 2009’s Backspacer for the past eighteen months, with Tides being one rumored album title. Pearl Jam currently has three shows on its schedule, including a July 16th gig in London, Ontario, a July 19th show at Chicago’s Wrigley Field, and a headlining appearance at New Orleans’ Voodoo Experience festival in November. Here’s the link…..Well, I honestly didn’t think it would happen, but it did! Pulse Content reports Nickelback‘s Chad Kroeger and pop starlet Avril Lavigne, both Canadians. tied the know on Monday (July 1st), which also happens to be Canada Day. According to Us Weekly, the couple were married in front of 50 friends and relatives at a 14th century castle named Chateau de la Napoule in Mandelieu in the South of France. The celebration afterwards, which began at midnight and ended at six in the morning, featured a late night fireworks display. A source told E! News that following the ceremony, guests were treated to a buffet of fresh lobster, sea bass, beef, and “endless glasses” of Laurent-Perrier champagne. There was also a wedding brunch at the Chateau on Tuesday morning (July 2nd). Another source said that the wedding reception was “a wild, all-night party with drinking, dancing, incredible food and lots of laughter and tears of happiness.” Kroeger and Lavigne got engaged last August after quietly dating for a few months. They began their relationship while Kroeger was helping Lavigne write songs for her latest album. While getting married on Canada Day is certainly patriotic, Kroeger told People magazine that he and his bride had other reasons for getting hitched on that date. He explained, “We started dating July 1st, so I’ll let the math speak for itself there. We can’t wait to start our life together. We’re very happy.” Damn, and I was right nearby the week before, damn you, Chad! I could’ve been there! ……Happy Birthday on Sunday to Synyster Gates aka Brian Haner who turns 32. …Have a great weekend! As Ethel Merman would go out singing “God Bless America,” I wish you a Happy 4th! Drink responsibly and all that stuff. And be careful with fireworks! See ya Monday!
