All this week I’ve been reading Corey Taylor‘s second book, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Heaven (Or How I Made Peace With the Paranormal and Stigmatized Zealots and Cynics in the Process.)” Yes, quite a mouthful from our friend Corey. I love his stuff because when you read it, it feels exactly like you can hear him saying the words. But I was distressed to read this news today in my Pulse of Radio feed. The Stone Sour and Slipknot frontman‘s home was robbed of $36,000 in musical equipment, according to Loudwire. A police report filed with the West Des Moines, Iowa police department stated the heist was committed by an apparent “friend” of Taylor and his wife Stephanie while the couple was out of town. The Taylors discovered the theft after returning home on Sunday (July 6th) from a month-long European tour. Adding insult to injury, among the equipment stolen were two bass guitars that once belonged to late Slipknot bassist Paul Gray. Taylor and his wife told police they believed the friend had stolen gear from their house and storage units. Another friend of the couple was able to identify some of the equipment at a local music store, while a different acquaintance apparently overheard the alleged suspect trying to buy some of the stolen gear back from a guitar store. The store’s manager is storing some of the stolen items and working to track down other equipment that was already sold. No charges have been filed yet and some of the stolen equipment has been recovered, according to the Des Moines Register. Police told Taylor to change the locks on both his residence and storage units. That sucks! I’ll get some updated info from Corey when I see him on Tuesday morning next week when he drops by the hardDrive studios here in NYC. I guess people are getting desperate these days and this “friend” figured Corey is successful and wouldn’t need the stuff? Geez…..Next week, the hardDrive hotLine will be hot with a phoner with one of the DeLeo Brothers from Stone Temple Pilots on Monday, then Tuesday is Corey, Wednesday, Jerry Cantrell and Sean Kinney of Alice in Chains stop by, Thursday, it’s Motionless in White‘s turn in the studio. Then on the 24th, P.O.D. will bring acoustic instruments and we’ll record some songs and do interviews. I mean, who else is around? Come on by!…..Here is a snippet of the new Avenged Sevenfold “Hail To The King” single, in case you haven’t checked it out yet. It is coming out on Monday! I heard several songs a few weeks back when I was invited to the studio to interview M Shadows. I loved what I heard and can’t wait for everyone else to have the same rush I got when you hear it for yourselves! Meanwhile, if you read yesterday’s blog early, you may have missed the update on Korn. The official title of their 11th studio album is The Paradigm Shift, and it arrives Oct 1. (Funny, most of their albums were released in October, November or December.) Here’s a great item on the band from RollingStone.com. I knew JD was having issues while working on the music for this record, (when HASN’T he?) but did not know he went to rehab to get off his anti-anxiety meds. I am glad. He is much clearer now than ever before, and HAPPY! The man smiles more. I think Head‘s return has really made him feel at home again. I think everyone in the band is in a good place now and is in top form. Can’t wait to see them this fall….Fight or Flight posted their music video for “First of the Last” off their soon to be released debut album, A Life By Design? I loved seeing Dan Donegan‘s family in there! His wife and two children have cameo appearances! Nice! (And maybe Mike Wengren‘s wife and daughter, but I couldn’t be sure.) Check it out here….Speaking of STP earlier, Stone Temple Pilots have announced a new live date, just their second with Linkin Park‘s Chester Bennington on vocals. The band will be one of the headliners at the inaugural Rockwave Festival at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, FL on Sep 21st. (Cool that Ft Myers is becoming a destination festival town. I am actually thinking about getting a place down there when I retire, so at least I will be able to see some shows in my old age! LOL!) The event will also feature performances from Jane’s Addiction, Filter, Anberlin and more. Bennington made his live debut with STP in May at a Los Angeles radio festival, performing a handful of the group’s classics as well as their first song together called “Out Of Time.” ….This is interesting. Antiquiet reports Queens Of The Stone Age has reissued its new album, . . . A crew from the Emmy-nominated series filmed the band’s February 17 concert at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, the last gig of a three-night stand there, with that night’s set featuring 28 songs from all eras of the band’s career. A performance clip of the song “A Thousand Days Before” can be seen here. ….Have a great day!
