I guess this screwed things up! Avenged Sevenfold has canceled its previously announced July 16th concert in La Crosse, Wisconsin over production issues, according to Blabbermouth. This statement was issued by the band: “We regret to inform our fans in La Crosse that we have only now learned that the production requirements for our current tour unfortunately are not possible in the La Crosse Center. We will be back to the area soon to bring our fans the kind of show they have come to expect from us.” The local station 95.7 The Rock’s website shows the show has been completely cancelled. Fight or Flight and The Adrenaline Mob were also set for the bill. Tickets can be refunded at point of purchase. I mean, I don’t blame the band. If they can’t put on the show they want to because of stage limitations, they have the right to pull the plug, much to the chagrin of the fans….Pulse Content reports Sound City, the documentary directed by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl about a legendary Los Angeles studio where many of rock’s greatest albums were recorded, has been certified gold for sales of more than 50,000 copies of the film on Blu-ray and DVD. The movie has actually sold more than 100,000 copies in the U.S., with fully half of those in digital form. Grohl conceived of the project after buying the historic Neve 8028 analog recording console from the now-defunct Sound City studio in Van Nuys, California. The board was built in 1972 and was used to record albums by Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica and countless others over the past 40 years. Seriously, if you haven’t seen this yet, you really need to! iTunes or buy it. It will go down as one of the best rock documentaries…..I was seriously blown away yesterday when I heard the new Pearl Jam tune, “Mind Your Manners.” The song will appear on the forthcoming PJ album, Lightning Bolt, due Oct 15th. See Road Rage….Blabbernouth reports due to recent flooding and water damage at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, the Rush concert originally scheduled for Wednesday, July 24 had to be canceled. Rush has been moved by the situation in Alberta, Canada and has decided to perform its “Clockwork Angels” show at the closest location possible on the same date — Wednesday, July 24 in Red Deer, Alberta at the Enmax Centrium — and has all proceeds to go to Alberta Flood Relief. The band will donate its fee and pay for all its expenses. Their promoter partner, Live Nation, will also donate its time and fees towards this cause. The venue, Enmax Centrium, will donate goods and services to the event as well. It’s an all-hands-on-deck situation to donate time in order to raise as much money possible for our Alberta friends and fellow Canadians in need. Nice…..What an awesome charity event is this! Loudwire reports Celtic punk innovators Dropkick Murphys have always been proud of their Boston roots, but they truly put that pride into action by raising money for victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings. The Murphys released the ‘Rose Tattoo: For Boston Charity EP’ soon after the bombings, and the band has just donated over $300,000 to a total of 60 victims. The barroom heroes became hometown heroes after Dropkick Murphys founding member Ken Casey sought donations through the musician’s own charity, the Claddagh Fund. Just days after the Boston Marathon Bombings, which killed three and injured 264 people, Dropkick Murphys released ‘For Boston’ t-shirts, which brought in over $100,000 in only a few days time. Dropkick Murphys also played a benefit show at Boston’s House of Blues and teamed with Bruce Springsteen to release the ‘Rose Tattoo: For Boston Charity EP.’ The three-song EP, which is still available for only $1.29 on iTunes, consists of an alternate version of the Murphys’ ‘Rose Tattoo’ single featuring Bruce Springsteen and live versions of ‘Don’t Tear Us Apart’ and ‘Jimmy Collins’s Wake.’ “We were humbled by the kindness of our friends and fans who got behind this cause with so much heart and passion,” Casey says in an official statement. “It was truly an honor to be able to represent them and contribute, even if in a small way, to help these inspirational individuals.” To purchase a copy of ‘Rose Tattoo: For Boston Charity EP,’ head over to iTunes. All the proceeds will be taken in by the Claddagh Fund and given to victims of the bombings….Have a great weekend! See ya Monday!
