Had good times yesterday with Jason Newsted and Mike Mushok of Newsted and The Winery Dogs. Fun catching up with old pals and meeting new ones. Be listening for the chats soon in podcast form, as well as on the air!…..We just heard the news! Papa Roach has been forced to cancel a South American tour scheduled to start this week, with guitarist Jerry Horton stating, “(Singer) Jacoby (Shaddix) is having vocal issues, and has been ordered to rest. We will be rescheduling the tour for next year.” There is no indication yet whether this will affect Papa Roach’s slot on the upcoming Carnival Of Madness tour, which is scheduled to kick off on August 13th in Asbury Park, New Jersey. It was just over a year ago — in August 2012 — Papa Roach was forced to pull off the road for two months after Shaddix underwent surgery to remove nodes from his vocal cords.Dunno how this will affect the Carnival of Madness’ first 3 dates, as the band was not scheduled to start that tour til the 4th show in, with Sevendust replacing P-Roach on the first 3 dates. Wonderers are wondering what’s going on….Oh this is just sad. Pulse of Radio reports Black Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne has taken issue with founding drummer Bill Ward‘s recent contention that he was physically capable of playing drums for the band, which the group has suggested was one reason why he is not on their current tour nor on the band’s new album 13. Ward said in an interview last week that he “would never, ever show up for a commitment that I could not do physically . . . I’m the drummer in Sabbath and quite capable of doing the job.” He cited contractual issues as the reason why he declined to participate in the reunion. Ozzy told the New York Daily News about Ward, “I don’t think he could have done the gig, to be honest. He’s incredibly overweight. A drummer has to be in shape. He’s already had two heart attacks. I don’t want to be responsible for his life.” Despite this, however, Ozzy said “the door is always open” for Ward to return and admitted that without him “it’s not the same.” Ward said he would return on one condition, that he “play all or nothing.” It’s been speculated that Sabbath wanted Ward to play only part of its live shows because he wasn’t in shape to perform an entire concert. Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk played on Sabbath’s new album, 13, while Tommy Clufetos is the touring drummer for the group, which plays tonight (August 6th) in Detroit. Have you seen Sabbath on this tour? If so, we want to hear from you!
