I started my morning watching the new Halestorm video for “Here’s To Us.” Loved how they walked us down memory lane of the 80’s, 90’s and today of rock star “looks.” Warning: this video contains words you probably have heard before that we can’t play on the radio. Love Halestorm. The band heads to Japan this week for two shows before returning to the U.S. and starting a new round of late summer/early fall tour dates on August 23rd in Palmer, Alaska. Wish I had their frequent flyer miles, that’s for sure! LOL….Pulse of Radio reported on these items: Green Day is preparing to release Cuatro!, the documentary about the making of the band’s recent trio of albums, on DVD on August 26th. The film chronicles the process of writing and recording Uno!, Dos! and Tre!, which Green Day released last September, November and December. The DVD release also features footage of the band’s 2012 tour. Bassist Mike Dirnt said in a statement, “Cuatro! brings our fans one step closer by giving them even more access and revealing what it was like for us to make these records.” (Alternative Addiction)…Rise Against‘s live cover of Bruce Springsteen‘s “The Ghost Of Tom Joad,” recorded in September 2012 in Anaheim, California, has been posted online on SoundCloud. The track is set to appear on Rise Against’s upcoming rarities compilation, Long Forgotten Songs: B-Sides & Covers 2000-2013, due out September 10th and available for pre-order now. Guests who performed the song with the band included Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, the MC5‘s Wayne Kramer and others. Rise Against guitarist Zach Blair called the experience “surreal . . . needless to say, we were stoked.” Oh goody! New cover song for our next Cover It Up special edition of hardDrive!….Pulse also posted this story I wanted to share: Nine Inch Nails main man Trent Reznor has revealed in a new interview with the Guardian that rock legend David Bowiehelped him get through the darkest days of his addiction to drugs and alcohol, which Reznor finally kicked in 2003. Reznor explained, “When I was in the throes of that was when we toured with Bowie, and this was the Bowie that had come out the other side and was happily married. I was nearing the peak of my addiction, and his role to me was kind of mentor, big brother, friend, and also he’d give me kind of shamanish advice.” Reznor said that his mental state hit a low during the recording and touring of Nine Inch Nails’ classic 1994 album The Downward Spiral, leading to his struggle with addiction. He admitted, “Downward Spiral felt like I had an unending bottomless pit of rage and self-loathing inside me and I had to somehow challenge something or I’d explode. I thought I could get through by putting everything into my music, standing in front of an audience and screaming emotions at them from my guts — but after a while it didn’t sustain itself, and other things took over.” Meanwhile, for those of us who haven’t or won’t have a chance to see Nine Inch Nails tour, check this unreal LED light show the band’s been using on his summer shows, provided by the company Moment Factory….Whoa! My friend over at Blabbermouth has been working overtime to rebuild the site and it LOOKS GREAT! Congrats to BK! …..
