What?!!!!! Dave Grohl as a Nameless Ghoul? Pulse of Radio reports it’s no secret the Foo Fighters main man loves to jam with other bands and musicians, but one of his performances may have been so secretive, no one knew it was him! That’s because, according to Team Rock, Grohl has performed live with the band Ghost B.C.— a Swedish heavy rock act who do not reveal their identities and perform as “nameless ghouls” in long, hooded cloaks and horror film masks. When one of the “ghouls” was asked by Fuse interviewer Jack Osbourne if Grohl had ever had an occasion to play with the band, the anonymous band member replied, “As a matter of fact he has. I can’t really . . . but underneath that cloak it was Dave Grohl.” The ghoul would not say how long ago Grohl had performed with the group, and whether any other big-name stars had done the same. Another member of Ghost recently admitted that it won’t be long before the band’s identities come out. The group actually goes under the name Ghost B.C. in the U.S. due to a legal dispute with another act called Ghost….Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello revealed in a new interview with Bloody Disgusting he is working on a new heavy rock album, his first since playing in Audioslave, that will be issued sometime in 2014. Morello explained, “It’s just time to rock and I’ve written a batch of songs with huge riffs and huge grooves. I’m working it out with my band now and we’re about five songs deep at this point, but we’re taking our time with it. It will definitely be a release-the-hounds effort.” Morello’s previous solo efforts have been folk-tinged and have come out under the name The Nightwatchman. It’s not clear whether he will release the new disc under that name as well. His third and most recent Nightwatchman effort, World Wide Rebel Songs, came out in 2011. Rage has not played live since 2011, but recently announced plans for a second edition of its L.A. Rising festival next August. We asked Morello a while back why Rage hasn’t performed more often: “It’s a band that’s pretty mercurial. Like migratory animals, you know, when some instinctive drive propels us, that is when the band acts.” Meanwhile, I was not aware Tom recently completed a 12-issue comic book series called Orchid for Dark Horse Comics. The post-apocalyptic saga follows a teenage prostitute trying to survive under the brutal rule of tyranny who becomes the leader of an uprising through the power of an ancient relic….Nine Inch Nails has posted two big goodies online for fans: the first is the studio version of “Copy Of A,” the new song that the live band has been opening its concerts with since returning to the stage last month. The second is the group’s complete concert from this past weekend’s Outside Lands festival in San Francisco, a 95-minute set featuring several new tunes as well as a solid lineup of NIN classics. “Copy Of A” is taken from Hesitation Marks, the first new NIN album in five years, which is due out September 3rd. In addition to NIN, the Outside Lands event featured performances from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Vampire Weekend, Paul McCartney, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the National, Willie Nelson, Hall and Oates, Grizzly Bear and a wide range of eclectic artists. Reznor’s latest version of Nine Inch Nails made its U.S. live debut on August 2nd at Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival…And lastly today, the Las Vegas police department has launched an internal investigation after Guns N’ Roses guitarist DJ Ashba and his girlfriend Nathalia Henao were given a private ride on a police helicopter after which Ashba proposed. Ashba posted photos of the tour on his Instagram Saturday (August 10th), writing in part, “That was the most incredible day of our life!! Special thx to the Las Vegas Police Dept. for the most amazing helicopter private tour over Vegas!” Officials were reportedly livid about the apparent misuse of the helicopter, especially in the wake of officer’s death in a fall from a helicopter last month. Both the officer who apparently arranged the ride and the pilot are under investigation. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
