Good morning! Gotta make this a quickie today! Pulse of Radio says: Has Tool singer Maynard James Keenan secretly been working on lyrics for the band’s long-awaited fifth album since the spring? According to Loudwire, Keenan appeared on comedian Marc Maron‘s “WTF” podcast and, when asked about new Tool music, replied, “I’m gonna stop by the rehearsal space today. In theory, having beaten them up going, ‘Please give me music, please give me music, please give me music, please give me music,’ they have a CD for me today. They’re like, ‘Look, listen to some jams so we can get this thing going.’” What’s interesting, however, is that while the podcast was broadcast last Sunday (August 18th), the interview itself was recorded in March — with Keenan even making a reference to his 49th birthday happening in April. So has Keenan been working on the new Tool record since last March? Keenan said he needed to hear music before he could begin to formulate lyrics, explaining, “I can’t write words ’til I hear the sounds, and I haven’t heard the sounds . . . I’ve gotta listen to the sounds and go from the sounds.” So 2014 it will be for Tool!…..Korn guitarist Brian ‘Head’ Welch is offering fans a taste of their new track “Love & Meth” in his most recent post for his monthly column “HeAd’s KoRner” on Loudwire.com. Welch and his bandmates are overseas promoting their new album The Paradigm Shift (they recently played in Shanghai, China,) but he revealed they had made a plan before they left to release another song on top of their latest single “Never Never.” Brian wrote, “A few months ago, the KoRn camp came up with the plan to release another song around the same time as the ‘Never Never’ single was released. We filmed two videos last week before we flew to Europe — one for the ‘Never Never’ single and the other for a bangin’ song called ‘Love & Meth.‘” He went on to explain that the videos would not be done for a few weeks so he invited everyone to check out a 90 second clip of the track to tide them over. I know Head really wanted “Love & Meth” as the first single, but I guess majority over-ruled!
